  • Publication number: 20070034193
Abstract: A vehicle fuel system includes a fuel vapor recovery canister containing a carbon bed configured to capture hydrocarbon material associated with fuel vapor discharged from the fuel tank into the canister. A purge vacuum is applied to the canister to draw fuel vapor carrying reclaimed hydrocarbon material from the canister into an intake manifold coupled to an engine so that the reclaimed hydrocarbon material can be burned in the engine.

  • Publication number: 20060276372
Abstract: A method and system used for treating proliferative disorders using carotenoids, carotenoid analogs, and/or carotenoid derivatives. The method and system may be used for chemoprevention and/or chemotherapy. The method and system may induce apoptosis in target cells, tissues, and/or organs. The analog, derivative, or intermediate may be administered to a cell, a group of cells, a tissue, an organ or a subject, such that at least a portion of the undesirable consequences of the proliferative disorder are thereby reduced.

  • Publication number: 20060096662
Abstract: A nozzle inhibitor is positioned in a filler neck closure assembly to prevent a user from pumping unleaded fuel into a diesel fuel tank. The nozzle inhibitor blocks full insertion of a small-diameter unleaded fuel nozzle into the filler neck closure assembly yet allows full insertion of a large-diameter diesel fuel nozzle into the filler neck closure assembly.

  • Publication number: 20060028779
Abstract: A power controller is positioned within a current path between the line side and the load side of an electrical circuit. The power controller closes the current path in the presence of a control supply and opens the current path in the absence of the control supply. A power supply electrically connected to the current path provides the control supply. A sensor system receives power from the power supply, monitors the current in the current path and outputs a sensor signal indicative of a current condition within the current path. A logic controller also receives power from the power supply, receives the sensor signal and removes the control supply from the power controller when the sensor signal does not satisfy an established criteria. The sensor system may include one or both of an imbalance sensor for monitoring the current balance among two or more electrical lines and over-current sensors for monitoring current in individual lines.

  • Publication number: 20050255165
Abstract: A cost-effective, scalable technique for producing microspheres loaded with biologically active solid proteins is provided. The microspheres degrade over time and release biologically active VEGF, as demonstrated by the proliferation of HUVECs in vitro compared to negative controls. A defined concentration of microspheres can deliver a quantifiable level of VEGF with known release kinetics. The invention can be used with other growth factors and applied to tissue engineering applications such as the regeneration of peripheral nerve, bone, adipose tissue, and solid organs.

  • Publication number: 20050223023
Abstract: A method is provided of generating a plurality of pages suitable for viewing over the Internet with hyperlinks interconnecting said pages, wherein each page includes a plurality of hyperlinks arranged to represent a portion of a hierarchical navigation system. The method comprises the steps of storing a plurality of content files for containing content data, creating and storing a logical and editable representation of said navigation structure in the form of navigation data; and processing said content files in combination with said navigation data to produce a plurality of pages each representing said navigation structure, such that when displayed by a browser a content area derived from said content data is displayed with components of said navigation structure within the boundary of a viewable page.

  • Publication number: 20050067519
Abstract: A double-wound center-feed roll is disclosed which is formed from at least two webs each having lines of weakness which allow the webs to be separated into a plurality of sheets. The lines of weakness of one web are offset from those of the other such that in use the sheets can be dispensed singly from alternate webs. A first portion of the webs at the center of the roll is lightly bonded together while a second portion of the webs on the outside of the roll remains unbonded. The center-feed roll of the present invention reduces the occurrence of both web orientation reversal and streaming dispensing problems.

  • Publication number: 20050018369
Abstract: The aircraft applicable current imbalance detection and circuit interrupter interrupts an electrical circuit when a current imbalance is sensed. The current imbalance detection and circuit interrupter includes a housing, power supplies, a sensor system for sensing a current imbalance at the line side of the electrical circuit, a logic controller and a power controller including a power relay having contacts capable of surviving carry-break and make-carry-break types of ground fault conditions at anticipated current levels. At power up, the device performs a test to confirm that none of the relay contacts have failed in a closed position, and to check whether a switching FET which controls the relay coil has shorted.

  • Patent number: 6675779
Abstract: A tank venting apparatus or a fill-limit and tank ventilation valve is disclosed for use with a fuel tank. The valve has a housing which contains a first valve assembly, second valve assembly, third valve assembly and fourth valve assembly. The first valve assembly primarily communicates with the fuel tank. The fourth valve assembly communicates with a vapor recover canister and a filler neck to the tank. The first valve assembly also communicates with the third valve assembly and the second valve assembly. The second valve assembly generally communicates with the first valve assembly and the third valve assembly. The third valve assembly communicates with the first valve assembly, second valve assembly and fourth valve assembly. The third valve assembly prevents passage of liquid fuel from the tank to the canister. The fourth valve assembly manages flow from the valve.

  • Patent number: 6098728
Abstract: A drillbit with a flexible nozzle system is provided to address bit- and bottom-balling situations. In one embodiment, a given nozzle can have an mounting member which is oblong or another shape so as to be installable into different positions where, in one position, the bit-balling problem is addressed, while in the other, the bottom-balling problem is addressed. Other shapes that provide this flexibility can also be employed. The nozzle body can also be made with a symmetrical mount, with the outlet askew such that the symmetrical mount, when placed in a strategically located nozzle opening, can address bit- or bottom-balling situations by a simple reversal of the orientation where multiple orientations are available for the base. Alternatively, in the area between adjacent cones, multiple nozzle installations can be provided to independently address the bit-balling and bottom-balling situations between adjacent cones.

  • Patent number: 5886319
Abstract: Method and Apparatus for guiding an operation effector such as a laser cutter to effect an operation along a path on a patterned material using machine vision. The machine vision is used to make a map of a repeat of the pattern, a path is defined on the map by drawing a line on an area image map of the repeat of the pattern, the material and operation effector are moved relatively along the direction of pattern repeat, a line scan camera scans the material during a relative movement between the camera and the patterned material and a scanning image is compared with the map to determine the relative positions of the material and the operation effector, and the operation effector is guided to effect the operation at a position on the material corresponding to the path defined on the map.
