Publication number: 20230297662Abstract: A non-networked multi-function device (MFD) is disclosed. For example, the non-networked MFD includes a communication interface to establish a communication session with a mobile endpoint device, a memory to store authentication information, and a processor. The processor is to receive a connection request from a mobile endpoint device, establish a connection with the mobile endpoint device, authenticate the mobile endpoint device via authentication information received from the mobile endpoint device that matches authentication information stored in the memory, provide available functions to the mobile endpoint device, receive a request from the mobile endpoint device to execute a function from the available functions, and execute the function.Type: ApplicationFiled: March 17, 2022Publication date: September 21, 2023Inventors: Timothy L. Dioguardi, Joseph H. Lang, Fadi G. Rouhana, Scott C. Van Scooter, Paul F. Brown, II

Publication number: 20230300142Abstract: An enterprise owned multi-function device (MFD) is disclosed. For example, the MFD includes, a communication interface to establish a communication session with an authentication server, a re-activation timer, a processor and a non-transitory computer readable medium storing instructions, which when executed by the processor, cause the processor to authenticate the enterprise owned MFD over the communication session when the enterprise owned MFD is activated at a remote location of an employee, create a local account of the employee for local authentication, and authorize access to the employee via the local account of the employee until the re-activation timer expires.Type: ApplicationFiled: March 17, 2022Publication date: September 21, 2023Inventors: Joseph H. Lang, Timothy L. Dioguardi, Fadi G. Rouhana, Paul F. Brown, II, Scott C. Van Scooter

Publication number: 20230140229Abstract: User identification information is received through a user interface device. A processor device supplies the user identification information through an input/output device to an external computerized device to receive, in response, external authorization to use features of an apparatus. The user interface device outputs a menu having options to create a local account based on the external authorization and, in response, receives instructions to create a local account using the processor device. The local account is created based on the instructions being received using the processor device. The local account is stored in a memory device. After creation of the local account, the processor device generates local authorization to use the features of the apparatus based on the user identification information matching information in the local account stored in the memory device, without contacting the external computerized device for the external authorization.Type: ApplicationFiled: November 3, 2021Publication date: May 4, 2023Applicant: Xerox CorporationInventors: Joseph H. Lang, Timothy L. Dioguardi

Patent number: 11582108Abstract: A method of automatically creating trust communities in a fleet of devices. The method includes finding candidate devices in a fleet of devices via one or more candidate discovery techniques and generating device-related data based on the candidate devices that are found, analyzing the device-related data via an analytics engine and creating one or more fleet orchestrator device lists based on the analysis of the device-related data, and automatically creating one or more new trust communities or suggesting joining one or more previously existing trust communities based at least on the one or more fleet orchestrator device lists for the candidate devices, wherein the one or more new trust communities or previously existing trust communities include at least a sub-set of the devices in the fleet, and wherein at least one of the managed devices in the sub-set of devices is configured as a root device to publish files via a file sharing function.Type: GrantFiled: March 11, 2021Date of Patent: February 14, 2023Assignee: Xerox CorporationInventors: Kim P. Ciulla, Yolanda R. Zhesnik, Timothy L. Dioguardi, PAul Roberts Conlon, Kenneth B. Schleede, Dianne Colelli

Patent number: 10248364Abstract: To troubleshoot an error, a printer uses a job ticket and printer-independent document data to perform a job, such as printing a document. The job ticket includes instructions for hardware component settings of the printer. In response to a capture bug command, the printer will capture, from a group of hardware configuration sensors, real-time values of the settings for the print device hardware components while the print device implements performs the job. The printer will save the captured real-time values of the settings, the job ticket, and the printer-independent document data to a merged file, and it will transmit the merged file to a maintenance service.Type: GrantFiled: June 23, 2017Date of Patent: April 2, 2019Assignee: Xerox CorporationInventors: Edward N. Chapman, Paul Roberts Conlon, Timothy L. Dioguardi, Lee Coy Moore, Stephen Santini

Patent number: 9122849Abstract: Embodiments of a method are provided for personalizing a memory card. The method comprises receiving one or more credentials. The method further comprises authenticating the one or more credentials. The method further comprises reserving a memory segment in the memory card based on the authentication, wherein one or more memory segments in the memory card are vacant. The method furthermore comprises writing the one or more credentials on to the memory segment.Type: GrantFiled: June 27, 2012Date of Patent: September 1, 2015Assignee: XEROX CORPORATIONInventors: Kenneth J Buck, Timothy L Dioguardi, Chandra Dasaraju

Patent number: 8736929Abstract: Methods perform at least two different segments of a scan job by sequentially scanning the different segments using an optical scanner. Each of the different segments is scanned with the optical scanner manually set to different settings. The methods automatically combine the different settings to produce a recurring scan workflow. The recurring scan workflow includes such different settings of the different segments and information of the number of pages scanned in each of the different segments. Further, such methods perform at least one later scan job having later segments corresponding to the different segments of the original scan job after creating the recurring scan workflow. During the later scan job the computerized device automatically changes settings of the optical scanner between the later segments, without requiring the user to manually change the different settings between the later segments.Type: GrantFiled: June 19, 2012Date of Patent: May 27, 2014Assignee: Xerox CorporationInventors: Kari K. Poysa, Timothy L. Dioguardi, Paul R. Conlon
