  • Patent number: 6394427
Abstract: A housing is permanently connected to a water supply of a building and includes an evaporative water panel allowing water to flow downwardly and wick upwardly. A circulating device is provided for directing air from the building through the water panel. A reservoir is positioned in the housing for supporting the water panel and holding excess water deposited from the water panel. A water distributor is supplied for moving water from the water supply to a top of the water panel. A water control arrangement is responsive to the water level therein for automatically controlling the flow of water to the water panel to provide a desired humidity level in the building.

  • Patent number: 6367782
Abstract: A water distributor provides a uniform supply of water to an evaporative panel held in a frame of an evaporative apparatus. The water distributor includes a base having a plurality of flow channels, each of the flow channels having an inlet port for receiving water from a source, an outlet port for delivering water to the evaporative panel and a tortuous path connecting the inlet port with the outlet port for providing high flow resistance so as to facilitate the consistent and even flow of water through each of the outlet ports. The volumetric flow velocity of the water is controlled within a desired range at normal water supply pressures.

  • Patent number: 6192931
Abstract: A device for controlling the movement of a damper mounted in a housing includes a shaft rotatably secured to the damper for pivoting the damper between an open position and a closed position. A lever arm is mounted on the shaft for rotation therewith and a spring is connected between the housing and the lever arm for normally urging the damper towards the open position. A motor is mounted on the housing and is actuable to overcome the force of the spring to move the damper to the closed position. A force translation arrangement is disposed between the motor and the lever arm for translating the driving force of the motor when the motor is energized to move the damper to the closed position, and for gradually braking the motor when the motor is de-energized and the spring returns the damper to the open position.

  • Patent number: 5322117
Abstract: A corner frame construction for a heat exchanger includes an elongated L-shaped member disposed between the top and bottom plates of the heat exchanger. The L-shaped member has a first leg extending parallel to a first edge of the media layers and a second leg extending perpendicular to the first leg and parallel to a second edge of the media layers. A first flange is connected to the first leg and extends inwardly toward the edge of the media layer and a second flange is connected to the second leg and extends inwardly toward a second edge of the media layer. A layer of flowable sealant is disposed along the length of the L-shaped member and is contact with both the first and second legs, the first and second media edges and the first and second flange members.

  • Patent number: 5302174
Abstract: A multi-unit grease filter includes a first filter unit and a second filter unit, each having an upstream series of spaced apart elongated baffles and a downstream series of spaced apart elongated baffles offset from the upstream series of baffles so that the baffles overlap and expose the air to multiple surfaces as it travels through the filter. The baffles have their ends connected to a pair of end frame members, each of which has at least one spacer in the form of a side edge having a first portion co-extensive with the upstream series of baffles and a second portion co-extensive with the downstream series of baffles so as to provide an off-set in each of the end frame members so that when the first and second filter units are disposed in abutment side by side, the off-sets align and overlap so that a bifurcated seam line is formed at the abutment and a downstream baffle overlaps with an upstream baffle at the seam line.

  • Patent number: 4706808
Abstract: A humidistat (17) generally includes a humidity sensing cartridge (20) adapted to be enclosed within a housing (18) having a base (21) and a front cover (22). The cartridge includes a plurality of engageable portions (24, 28). The housing base includes a peripheral frame (34) which surrounds and generally defines an enlarged rear opening (36) dimensioned to receive a humidity sensing cartridge therethrough. A plurality of flexible legs (38-40) extend forwardly from the base frame and have cams (41) and latches (42) adjacent their forward ends. A plurality of rigid posts (44, 45, 55) also extend forwardly from the base frame and include cams (52) terminating in openings (54) in the post walls. In assembly the cartridge to the base, the cartridge (20) is passed through the frame opening (36) from behind and rides onto the flexible leg cams (41) and snaps into place. Stops (50, 51) on at least some of the flexible legs and rigid posts limit the forward cartridge movement.

  • Patent number: 4693048
Abstract: In accordance with the various aspects of the invention, a spray booth media support module (1) includes a rectangular frame (5) which is of generally channel section. The frame forms opposing spaced end members (7) and connecting side members (8). One frame end has an inwardly bent lip (11) having spaced notches (13) therein. The opposed frame side members have slots (14). A generally rectangular grid (6) is adapted to be removably mounted to the frame. The grid includes spaced elements (15, 16) arrayed generally parallel to the frame end and side members. A plurality of wide prongs (17) extend outwardly from the grid for impaling an overspray-catching pad (4) thereon. At least several prongs are aligned in a vertical tier arrangement.
