  • Patent number: 7006508
Abstract: A communication network (10) utilized for providing communications between a first party and a second party includes a surveillance server (26) within a core network (10) to provide communication surveillance capability. The core network (10) may be a packet data network, and the surveillance server (26) is operable responsive to trigger information to establish communications surveillance. Communication surveillance may be established by creating duplicate bearer packets of those data packets carrying the communicated data between the parties, creating duplicate control packets of those data packets carrying in-band or out-of-band call control information between the parties and within the packet data network, and/or various combinations thereof. The duplicate bearer packets and the duplicate control packets are routed to appropriate authorized law enforcement agencies for providing surveillance.

  • Publication number: 20040203432
Abstract: A status information system for use in a communications network. The status information system comprises information management means through which a first entity operable in the network can request to receive status information about one or more specified other entities of the network and which means is arranged to obtain the said status information. The system further comprises delivery means through which the first entity can receive status information about other entities of the network. The delivery means is arranged: (i) to receive status information about entities of the network including to receive from the information management means the said status information about the specified one or more entities, and (ii) to authenticate the received status information.

  • Publication number: 20040030801
Abstract: The invention is a network and method for a client to request a named service in a network. The method includes transmitting a service request from the client in the network using a protocol in a layer in a protocol stack between a logical name of the named service and a physical address of a server, within a pool of servers in the network, which will provide the named service, to a service contact point of the network for the pool of servers; the service contact point, in response to the service request, selects the server which will provide the named service from the pool of servers; the service contact point forwards the request for the selected server to the selected server; and the selected server responds to the client with a message using the protocol indicating the selection of the selected server to the client.

  • Publication number: 20030229699
Abstract: A method of limiting the media description negotiation in Mobile IP networks, comprising the steps of: filtering, by a proxy call state control means (P-CSCF), a media description list of a user equipment (UE; UE-O, UE-T) based on policy constraints of networks which are involved in a communication connection of said user equipment (UE; UE-O, UE-T); and establishing a communication connection of said user equipment (UE; UE-O, UE-T), wherein a media description list for said communication connection is negotiated by said proxy call state control means (P-CSCF).
