  • Publication number: 20070016827
Abstract: An information handling system providing remotely accessible in-system debugging functionality is provided. The information handling system may include a first logic device and a remote access card distinct from the first logic device. The remote access card may include a network interface port, a processor, and a second logic device. The network interface port may be coupled to the second logic device and configured to receive a communications link for communications with a remote device. The second logic device may include debugging logic configured to be executed by the processor. The processor may be configured to receive debugging instructions from the remote device via the network interface port and, based at least on the received debugging instructions, execute the debugging logic to communicate with the first logic device via a communication link between the first logic device and the second logic device to facilitate remote debugging of the information handling system.

  • Publication number: 20060280195
Abstract: An information handling system having a network interface system operable to provide optional dedicated or shared network interface functionality is provided. The network interface system includes (a) a motherboard including a LAN on motherboard (LOM), a first processor, and a first network port; and (b) a remote management card including a second network port and a second processor including a MAC device. A user may configured the network interface system for either a dedicated network interface mode or a shared network interface mode. In the dedicated mode, the MAC device and the second network port are coupled such that the second processor may communicate with a network management node via the second network port. In the shared mode, the MAC device and the LOM are coupled such that the second processor may communicate with the network management node via the first network port and the LOM.

  • Publication number: 20060265656
Abstract: A technical support button accepts user activation to request a technical support session for an information handling system. For instance, activation of technical support sends an electronic message, such as an e-mail or instant message, to a technical support site that includes technical support information for establishing a technical support session, such as identification and diagnostics information. The technical support session is established through the information handling system to aid a technical support agent in investigating the system directly while communicating with the user of the system. For instance, VoIP communication is established through a management subsystem that operates on auxiliary power so that a technical support session is supported even if the information handling system is powered down or inoperative.

  • Publication number: 20060206666
Abstract: A virtual local storage drive is included as a component of a managed server. The storage drive is included in a remote access card that is included in the managed server. The remote access card includes a local power source. The remote access card is coupled across a network connection to a remote client. The storage memory of the remote access card provides a depository for the exchange of data and software between the remote client and the processor of the managed server. The service processor of the remote access card performs an emulation function such that the storage drive of the remote access card appears as a local storage drive from the perspective of the processor of the managed server.

  • Publication number: 20060095224
Abstract: Audible status indications available at a local information handling system, e.g. beep codes, are used to notify a remote information handling system of the local information handling system's status. The remote information handling system then generates a visual or audible indication of the local information handling system's status.

  • Publication number: 20050107623
Abstract: A method for reacting alkanolamine with ester in the presence of a metal silicate compound and, optionally, a catalyst, to produce a hydroxyalkyl amide composition with a decreased level of alkanolamine and residual catalyst.

  • Publication number: 20050101761
Abstract: A method is disclosed for reducing levels of residual halogen and Group IIIb metals in a crude poly(?-olefin) polymerized in the presence of a catalyst comprising the halogen and Group IIIb metals, wherein the method comprises: A) washing the crude poly(?-olefin) with water; B) separating the aqueous and organic phases; C) then adding an adsorbent selected from the group consisting of magnesium silicates, calcium silicates, aluminum silicates, aluminum oxides, and clays to the organic phase to form a slurry; D) heating the slurry under reduced pressure at a temperature of at least about 180° C. for at least about thirty minutes; and then E) separating the adsorbent from the slurry.

  • Publication number: 20040186837
Abstract: A remote management system is coupled to a target information handling system so that a virtual device on the remote system can transmit information such as software, data, applications and upgrades to the target system. The target system includes a local real device such as a media drive which is switchably coupled to a channel of the target system. Upon command from the remote management system the target system switches the channel from a connection with the local real device to a connection with the remote virtual device. Software installations by a remote operator at the remote system are thus facilitated. In this manner the channel is shared between the local real device and the remote virtual device.
