Abstract: Managing a subsystem of an information handling system by a data processing unit (DPU), including identifying a first connection between the DPU and a switch; identifying a second connection between the switch and the subsystem; identifying computational capabilities of the DPU, including routing support of the DPU; determining, based on the identified computational capabilities of the DPU, that the DPU supports multi-directional link subdivision; in response to determining that the DPU supports multi-directional link subdivision: configuring the DPU to select the multi-directional link subdivision as an operating mode of the DPU; configuring the switch to invoke a virtual switch hierarchy at the switch to enable communication between the DPU and the subsystem through the virtual switch hierarchy; and after configuring the DPU and the switch, accessing, by the DPU, the subsystem to manage operation of the subsystem.

Abstract: An apparatus includes N motor circuits, a fan-out circuit, and a first administration circuit. The N motor circuits are configured to control disconnection of N hoses that transport cooling liquid to sites in a computing system. The fanout circuit is configured to communicate with the N motor circuits. The first administration circuit is configured to administer cooling services for the computing system by performing first administration tasks on the N motor circuits under a first policy via the fanout circuit based on a detected leak associated with one of the N hoses.

Abstract: In an information handling system comprising a host system, an information handling resource coupled to the host system and comprising a main power path via a card electromechanical connector and an auxiliary power path via a cable connector, and a management controller coupled to the host system and the information handling resource and configured, a method may include, by the management controller: observing, via a primary function of a card cable presence detection signal of the information handling resource, an indication that the auxiliary power path is coupled to a source of electrical energy via a cable; responsive to observing the card cable presence detection signal, communicating a stimulus to the information handling resource via a secondary function of the card cable presence detection signal; and querying an input/output interface of the information handling resource to determine a response of the information handling resource to the stimulus.

Abstract: An information handling system may include at least one processor; an interface configured to communicatively couple the processor to an information handling resource via a first communications protocol; and an interface controller configured to manage the interface. The interface controller may be configured to: transmit a payload to the information handling resource via the interface, wherein the payload is transmitted via a second communications protocol different from the first communications protocol, and wherein the payload includes information usable to establish communications via the first communications protocol; and in response to the payload being received by the information handling resource, establish communications via the first communications protocol with the information handling resource.

Abstract: Methods and systems for thermal management of data processing systems are disclosed. To improve the likelihood of computer implemented services being provided, the systems may thermally manage the temperatures of various components of the data processing system under a variety of operating conditions. To warm the components, the system may include fans usable to generate a circulation airflow and heaters to generate heat to warm the airflow. To cool the components, the system may include fans usable to generate a through enclosure airflow to bring in cool air and expel warm air. The fans may be managed via a control system that includes multiple management entities that may operate under different ranges of thermal conditions and may be capable of performing various analysis for ascertaining how to operate the fans and heaters to thermally manage the system.

To manage the operation of the data processing systems, access to information regarding the operation of hardware components of the data processing systems may be provided. The access may be provided by configuring the internal communication topology of the data processing systems. The topologies may be configured to limit access to unvalidated entities, and provide access to validated entities.

Abstract: Methods and systems for managing operation of data processing systems are disclosed. To manage the operation of the data processing systems, user input may be obtained and used to select how to change the operation of the data processing systems. The user input may be obtained via an interface system. The interface system may be operably connected to a processing complex and a management controller of the data processing system via reconfigurable channels. The channels may be reconfigured to selectively provide the user input to the processing complex or the management controlled based on the state of the data processing system.
