  • Patent number: 10626050
Abstract: The present description relates to asphalt coating compositions, and methods of application, for coating asphalt paving surfaces. In particular, sprayable coating compositions are provided, and methods of application, for coating asphalt paving surfaces. In the coating composition, a lightweight aggregate material of sprayable particle size is stably suspended in a sprayable asphalt emulsion in an amount sufficient to increase the micro-texture surface roughness of the cured coating.
    Type: Grant
    Filed: July 11, 2016
Date of Patent: April 21, 2020
    Assignee: INGEVITY SOUTH CAROLINA, LLC
Inventors: Dennis Muncy, Tyler Francis, Timothy M. O'Connell
  • Patent number: 9896602
Abstract: A sprayable coating composition, and method of application, for coating asphalt paving surfaces. In the coating composition, a low bulk density aggregate material of sprayable particle size is suspended in a sprayable asphalt emulsion in an amount sufficient to increase the micro-texture surface roughness of the cured coating.
    Type: Grant
    Filed: June 15, 2016
Date of Patent: February 20, 2018
    Assignee: InVia Pavement Technologies, LLC
Inventors: Timothy M. O'Connell, Ronnie J. Price, Andrew C. Fox, Richard K. Steger

  • Publication number: 20140356526
Abstract: A method of producing a cationic asphalt slurry composition which can be used as an asphalt paving sealer or as a paving or repair composition. In the method and composition, latex and other polymers are used to build viscosity and a pH buffering filler is added to prevent flocculation. Consequently, the cationic composition can be stored without irreversibly settling or separating, and without breaking for several days prior to use. In addition, non-expansive clay and a polar polymer hardening agent are used so that, when applied, the composition will set and develop strength very quickly.
