  • Publication number: 20190386943
Abstract: A server has a processor and a memory storing a message thread module with instructions executed by the processor to maintain a message thread between users of client devices. The message thread module serves a message thread with a new text entry to a client device in response to a request for the message thread from a user. Message thread state change is collected from the client device, where the message thread state change represents an indication to automatically delete the new text entry of the message thread after the duration of a transitory display period on the client device unless an indication of a gesture applied to a display screen presenting the new text entry of the message thread is received from the client device during the transitory display period. The message thread state change is queued at the server along with additional message thread state changes associated with the collecting operation performed for additional users associated with the message thread.

  • Publication number: 20040205251
Abstract: A software package for operating on a network including a plurality of network hardware devices comprises at least one networking protocols to transmit and receive data packets over the network, a hardware device driver coupled to the network hardware devices, an enhanced network driver coupled to the hardware device driver to transmit and receive the data packets using the network hardware devices and a control interface to transmit and receive control information to and from the hardware device driver. The enhanced network driver and control interface being portable to multiple network hardware devices.

  • Patent number: 6243756
Abstract: A network device with unified management including at least one port operable at any one of a plurality of media standards, port apparatus coupled to the port(s) that monitors and controls the port(s) for each of the media standards, and a management system that interfaces the port apparatus to manage the port(s) in a unified manner with respect to all of the media standards. The management system manages each of the ports in a unified manner regardless of the particular supported media standards. In one embodiment, the network device includes a memory and maintains multiple sets of statistical information per port. The port apparatus stores the first and second sets of statistics in the memory. The management system receives a statistics request and provides a unified statistic or a corresponding statistic from either the first or the second set of statistics. For port intrusion detection and prevention, one or more ports are assigned one or more authorized source addresses.

  • Patent number: 6167403
Abstract: A network device with selectable traps that improves network management by enabling a system manager or administrator to select between multiple trap definitions. The network device includes a memory that stores a management database including a plurality of trap definitions and a programmable parameter for selecting any one of the trap definitions. The network device further includes management processing logic that executes a management agent that issues traps according a selected one of the trap definitions depending upon the programmable parameter. In the embodiment described herein, the management database includes the standard Ethernet.TM. Repeater MIB implemented according to RFC 1516 including a first trap definition and the Ethernet.TM. Hub MIB by Novell including a second trap definition. The management agent issues traps according to either one of the trap definitions depending upon the programmable parameter.
