  • Publication number: 20050163650
Abstract: The present invention is a neutralization system for particulates including germs, organisms, and airborne pathogens. The invention includes a duct, a lamp with at least one ultraviolet tube therein, an optically transmissible element, and a light panel. The duct has an exterior surface with openings and an interior volume through which an air stream is directed. The lamp is fastened to the exterior surface of the duct over a first opening. The optically transmissible element is secured between lamp and duct so as to prevent the air stream from contacting the ultraviolet tubes within the lamp. The light panel is comprised of a frame about a porous mat composed of a plurality of end emitting optical fibers. The panel is slidably disposed through a second opening so as to bisect the air stream. A first end of each end emitting optical fiber is positioned so as to allow ultraviolet light from the lamp to enter the fiber.

  • Publication number: 20050026609
Abstract: A method for wirelessly communicating data between a plurality of avionics units on an aircraft and a data communication apparatus. The method includes wirelessly communicating download data for one avionics unit from the data communication apparatus to an aircraft data services link in the aircraft; automatically switching a communication path from the aircraft data services link to the avionics unit responsive to the download data; and electronically communicating the download data from the data communication apparatus to the avionics unit via the automatically switched communication path.

  • Patent number: 4670747
Abstract: An alphanumeric entry system which is provided with an electronic lock-out feature. The keypad entry system of the present invention comprises an alphanumeric keypad having function keys and display, a microprocessor, and an electronically programmable read-only memory device. The display consists of a series of system related menus as well as an alphanumeric display area. One of the system related menus corresponds to a locking feature, which may be activated by a general purpose function key. In the locking mode, the radio keypad toggles between a locked and unlocked condition as controlled by the function keys in accordance with a predefined sequence. The alphanumeric entry system of the present invention is particularly advantageous for use with portable two-way communications equipment which operate in a plurality of radio systems.

  • Patent number: 4667191
Abstract: An optimized method of bus contention comprising monitoring the bus for an idle or busy bus condition and either attempting an asynchronous bus access if the bus is idle or synchronously attempting a prioritized retry after a busy bus condition is sensed, after a bus access collision is sensed, and upon initial power-up, synchronized to the current message completion. The prioritization comprises a constant time delay plus a bit-time delay proportional to said accessing device's address identification.
