Abstract: Disclosed are improved colorant compositions that are suitable for encapsulation in an impact-rupturable casing that is adapted for intact projectile motion and rupture upon contact with a target surface. In many embodiments, the colorant compositions comprise (a) a carrier comprising: (i) a metathesized unsaturated polyol ester; and (ii) a polyol ester; and (b) a colorant. The colorant compositions are useful in paint balls for use in conjunction with projectile devices, such as paint ball markers.

Abstract: A triacylglycerol-based wax includes a triacylglycerol component and a polyol fatty acid partial ester component. The triacylglycerol-based wax may have a melting point of about 54° C. to 63° C., may have an Iodine Value of about 20 to 40, and may have a fatty acid profile including about 50 to 70 wt. % saturated fatty acids. The wax may be suitable for use as a candle.

Abstract: The systems, methods and associated devices performing diagnostic hearing tests which use a computer network to allow interaction between a test administration site and one or a plurality of remote patient sites. The test can be administered by an audiologist or clinician at a site remote from the patient, in a manner, which can allow interaction between the user and the clinician during at least a portion of the administration of the test. The diagnostic hearing tests can be performed such that they meet standardized guidelines such as ANSI requirements or certification standards and can include distortion product emission level measurements or middle ear compliance measurements.

Abstract: A user interface enables a user to concurrently select a plurality of network objects of a network object database (e.g., a MIB) from a same network device or different network devices and specify a value, only once, to which to set the selected objects. The user can initiate setting of the selected objects on the one or more devices by specifying only once that the objects on such devices be set to the specified value. The user interface, which may include a GUI, may be configured to enable the user to specify a value for a cell of a first table (“editing table”), in response to which a plurality of cells of a second table (“primary table”) are set equal to the specified value. The primary table may represent a view of a network object database, each column of the view representing an object type of the network object database.

Abstract: Improved methods are provided for the production of consistent quality combined and/or pH-adjusted ruminant feed products using commercial byproducts (e.g., wet distiller's grain products (WDG) and solubles syrup derived from ethanol production) of variable ingredient make-up and density. In a preferred method, continuous streams of WDG and solubles syrup (12, 13) are monitored to determine respective parameters related to the instantaneous mass of the materials therein such as instantaneous density or mass, and such parameters are used to at least in part control the proportions of the WDG and solubles syrup streams (12, 13) used to make a combined product. If desired, these same parameters may be used to adjust the pH of the WDG stream or the combined product.

Abstract: Improved ruminant feeds are provided which include a pH-adjusted first ingredient selected from the group consisting of ruminant-edible, initially low pH commercial byproducts and initially low pH grain or forage-derived products, combined with a second ingredient comprising a high digestive efficiency feed grain such as flaked corn. An improved process (10) for the production of a ruminant feed (50) as an adjunct to a fuel ethanol plant is also provided wherein starch-bearing grain (12) is processed to yield ethanol (30) and whole stillage (32). The whole stillage (32) is then treated to remove water and to yield a wet distiller's grain product (WDG) (38). The pH of the WDG (38) is then elevated (46) by the addition of base to a pH of from about 5-8, and the pH-adjusted WDG (46) is optionally dried (47) and combined with a high digestive efficiency feed grain (HDEG) such as flaked grain (48).

Abstract: A system provides integrated communications, navigation and surveillance capabilities. A plurality of satellites broadcast multiple navigation signals and is capable of two-way communication. At least one monitoring station is capable of receiving the navigation signals broadcast by the satellites and of determining its position based upon the received navigation signals. The monitoring station communicates its computed position to a processing apparatus so that an integrity of the system can be ascertained.

Abstract: A system provides automation or semi-automation of trade execution and recordkeeping services for a fund of funds, in particular, a fund of hedge funds. In providing such features for trade execution and recordkeeping, various transaction processes may be automated or semi-automated, thus, reducing an amount of human operator action and introduction of associated delay and possibility of error. Moreover, such a system may have further utility in providing access to lot-level records.

Abstract: A method and system are provided for performing satellite-supported landings in CAT II/III type landing conditions. An exemplary system includes a communication component, a positioning system, a radar altimeter, and a processor. The communication component receives terrain data information related to an instrument landing approach. The positioning system determines position of the aircraft. The radar altimeter generates altitude information of the aircraft. The processor is coupled to the communication component, the positioning system, and the radar altimeter. The processor determines an aircraft altitude based on the determined position of the aircraft, received terrain data information, and the generated altitude information.

Abstract: An integrated communications, navigation and surveillance system includes a plurality of satellites in communication with one another and broadcasting navigation signals. The satellites are capable of bi-directional communication and of receiving and relaying surveillance signals. A user segment includes at least one mobile user device operable to communicate with the satellites and to broadcast a surveillance signal to the satellites. The user device is also operable to compute its position based upon received navigation signals. The system uses the surveillance signal broadcast by the user device to monitor a position of the user device. The position of the user device determined by the system and by the user device can be shared to provide backup surveillance and backup navigation capabilities.

A filter cartridge in the filter casing can connect to the head assembly. The filter casing can include a filter retainer mounted adjacent the opening into the filter casing and can hold the filter cartridge connected to the head assembly in a first position and can release the filter cartridge in a second position. The filter casing can include a drain line leading from the filter casing drain to a pan outside the refrigerated space.

Candles formed from triacylglycerol-based material and methods of producing the candles are also provided.

Abstract: The present invention provides methods for managing livestock to improve performance and health of the general livestock population by reducing the impact of subclinical animals persistently infected with a contagious disease by separating animals into arrival groups, screening all animals for the pathogen of the contagious disease, promptly removing the pathogen positive animals from the general livestock population and feeding and managing the pathogen negative animals and pathogen positive animals separately. In preferred embodiments, the pathogen positive animals are removed from their arrival group within about 1.5-3 days after arrival. In preferred embodiments, the method of the present invention is applied in a cattle operation such as a seedstock operation, a cow-calf operation, a stocker operation, a backgrounding operation, a feedlot operation, a dairy operation, a farm of origin, such as a dairy farm, an auction facility, a gathering point or a buyer facility.

Abstract: The present invention provides a storage media for the storage and transport of clinical samples. The storage medium comprises a microbiological growth medium, glycerol and a reducing agent. Clinical samples, such as sputum, can be added to the storage medium at the point of collection and then transported in the storage medium at ambient temperatures, refrigerated or as frozen samples. The yield of pathogens using the storage medium is significantly improved. Also provided is a device for the storage and transport of clinical samples which can be used in conjunction with the storage media described herein.
