  • Patent number: 5860893
Abstract: A cabinet has a tread base rotatably connected to be oriented in an exercise position extending outwardly and in a stored position extending inwardly secured within the enclosure of the cabinet. The underside of the tread base may be configured to provide a suitable aesthetic exterior surface. A latching arrangement provided to secure the tread base within the enclosure in the second or stored position. Elevation structure and motor structure are provided to elevate the tread base when in the first position and to power the endless belt of the tread base when in the first position. The elevation structure may be operated to vary the inclination of the tread base when in the first position. The underside of the tread base has a decorative panel and functions as a door for the cabinet. The elevation structure may include an electrically driven rack and pinion as well as a gas cylinder system.

  • Patent number: 5772560
Abstract: The treadmill has a tread base that is rotatably attached to and between a left upright and a right upright. The tread base is rotatable between a first position for performing exercises and an upright or storage position. A latching structure is provided to latch the tread base to the support structure. The treadmill also includes inclination structure for inclining the tread relative to the support surface when in the first position. The treadmill also includes rigid handles and in one configuration movable handles. The tread base also has a rigid undersurface or pan to fully enclose the underside of the tread base. A lift assist gas cylinder is also interconnected between the tread base and the feet attached to the uprights.

  • Patent number: 5460399
Abstract: An all-terrain stroller having a pair of rear wheels, each having a receiver fixedly attached thereto for rotation therewith. The receiver has a plurality of circumferentially distributed receiver openings which open inward toward the opposite rear wheel. A pair of brake rods is movably supported by the rear axle of the stroller for lateral movement of each toward and away from one of the receivers under the urging of a coil spring. A foot pedal actuator is rotatable between brake engaged and disengaged positions. The foot pedal carries a cam which moves the brake rods toward and into one of the receiver openings of the corresponding receiver when the brake pedal is rotated to engaged position to lock the rear wheels against rotational movement. The cam permits withdrawal of the brake rods from the receiver openings when the foot pedal is rotated to the disengaged position. The foot pedal is provided with stops to limit rotation of the foot pedal beyond the engaged and disengaged positions.

  • Patent number: 5188389
Abstract: An all-terrain baby stroller using an axle assembly that permits the stroller frame to be collapsible. The axle assembly has a coupler at each end of a tubular axle. Each coupler assembly employs two coupler members, one connected to an upright frame member and the tubular axle, and the other one connected to a horizontal frame member. The couplers are rotatably connected to each other by a hub member. A portion of one coupler rotatably fits within the other coupler, and the hub member extends coaxially through both couplers and allows the one coupler to rotate about it. A stub axle carrying one of the rear wheels is removably received within the hub member. A locking pin is inserted into a hole formed through the stub axle, hub member, an inward one of the couplers, and the tubular axle to releasably retain the stub axle in place. A pair of upper frame members is pivotally connected to the upright frame members and removably connected to the horizontal frame members to permit folding of the frame.
