  • Publication number: 20070225800
Abstract: The present invention generally relates to the field of insertable or implantable medical devices, such as balloon catheters, stents and other similar diagnostic or therapeutic devices which may be provided within the body for treatment and/or diagnosis of diseases and conditions. In particular, the present invention relates to devices whose surfaces are electrically actuatable between a hydrophobic state and a less hydrophobic state or a hydrophilic state. Such devices include drug-eluting devices such as balloon catheters and stents which release therapeutic agents upon the application of an electric field. Such devices further include devices such as balloon catheters and stents whose lubricity may be modulated in situ by the application of an electric field.

  • Publication number: 20070090320
Abstract: A two-way damper is provided including a retaining member and a baffle. The baffle comprises a flexible member with a first portion secured and held in a fixed position by the retaining member and a second portion normally oriented in a first position, but free to move relative to said first position. The baffle also comprises a third portion, arranged between the first and second portions, being flexible and resilient and allowing the second portion to move to a second position relative to the first position upon the application of a pressure differential across the baffle above a threshold pressure and causing the second portion to return to the first position upon the application of a pressure differential across the baffle below the threshold pressure.

  • Publication number: 20060124417
Abstract: A retractable wheel assembly (110) for a carrier (100) is disclosed wherein the wheels (120) are rotatably mounted in cowls (130), which are pivotably disposed in wheel wells (116L, 116R) on a housing. The cowls are connected with a cowl axle assembly (140) that includes a coil spring, preferably a constant force spring (150) that biases the cowls towards a retracted position. The constant force spring is connected to a retractable handle (104), preferably with a spring engagement member (160), such that extending the retractable handle will bias the cowls towards an extended position, wherein the wheels extend out of the wheel wells for use.

  • Patent number: 5626271
Abstract: A child carrier for supporting a child adjacent the back of a hiker's torso comprises a forward portion and a rearward portion. A child compartment is between the forward and rearward portions for receiving a child. A generally rigid frame member is operatively connected to and adjacent the rearward portion of the child carrier. A kickstand having a ground-engageable portion is operatively connected to the frame member via a hinge for pivotal movement of the kickstand relative to the frame member about an axis X. The kickstand is pivotally moveable between a retracted position in which the ground-engageable portion of the kickstand is positioned generally adjacent the frame member, and a propping position in which the ground-engageable portion of the kickstand is positioned away from the frame member.
