  • Patent number: 6978978
Abstract: An electric fluid dispenser for dispensing a fluid onto a substrate. A power switching circuit is connected to an unregulated power supply providing a varying voltage. A solenoid connected to the power switching circuit operates a dispensing valve to move between open and closed positions. A control circuit is responsive to the varying voltage from the power supply and provides a drive signal to the power switching circuit having a time variable component determined by the varying voltage. The power switching circuit, in response to the drive signal, provides an output signal to the solenoid that causes the dispensing valve to move between the open and closed positions substantially independent of the varying voltage from the unregulated power supply.

  • Patent number: 5666286
Abstract: A device for identifying the number of solenoids/inductive loads connected in parallel to an electric gun driver is provided. In particular, the electric gun driver, which operates a multiple number of dispensing devices with a like number of solenoids for dispensing liquid adhesive on packaging materials, determines the number of solenoids or inductive loads connected in parallel thereto for operation thereof. The device includes an input/output device, a first and a second terminal wherein any number of solenoids are connected therebetween, and a micro-controller connected to the input/output device for determining the number of solenoids connected between the first and second terminals and for supplying an operating current to control the operation of the solenoids as desired by the operator.

  • Patent number: 4799052
Abstract: A method of determining access on an electronic serial bus by implicit token passing. The serial bus receives and transmits data between a plurality of devices. Each device has a receiver for receiving data to the serial bus, a transmitter for transmitting data to the serial bus, a bus idle timer for detecting an idle condition on the bus, and a bus access timer for controlling access to the serial bus. Each device is assigned a unique bus address. The bus access timer of each device is loaded with a value representative of each device's own unique bus address and the unique bus address of the transmitting device. The bus access timer starts a count upon receiving an end of transmission condition from the transmitting device and stops upon receiving a start of transmission condition from the transmitting device. When a bus access timer of a device reaches a predetermined value, the device of the timed out bus access timer is given access to the bus.

  • Patent number: 4492874
Abstract: Systems and methods for synchronizing a gas turbine-driven generator to an AC power system by employing optimal time control theory to directly drive the turbine-generator to a synchronizing point. The fuel commands, synchronization points, and trajectories are selected in view of the need to minimize thermal stress on the turbine hot-gas-path parts, while also minimizing time required for synchronization. Digital computer and analog implementations are disclosed.
