Abstract: Some embodiments of the invention are directed to, among other things, systems, computer readable media, methods and any other means for using a handheld device to present information to a user. The handheld device and server(s) can be configured to differentiate among inexpensive and expensive information. For example, the handheld device can be configured to present media listings that represent media stored on the server(s). Each media listing can include text (inexpensive information) and thumbnails (expensive information). While the user scrolls through the media listings, the new listings can only include text. Once the scrolling stops, the missing thumbnails can be downloaded and integrated into their corresponding listings. In response to a listing being selected, the corresponding media file can be downloaded and/or played back to the user by the handheld device.

Abstract: A portable electronic device with a touch screen display: displays a first list of information about online video items in a plurality of lists; displays a plurality of icons corresponding to at least some of the plurality of lists; in response to detecting a moving finger gesture on the first list of information about content items, scrolls the first list of information; in response to detecting a stationary finger contact on a first portion of a row in the first list of information, wherein the row contains information about a particular online video item: initiates a request for the particular online video item from a remote computer, receives the particular online video item, and plays the particular online video item; and, in response to detecting a finger contact on a respective icon in the plurality of icons, displays a corresponding list of information about online video items.

Abstract: Some embodiments of the invention are directed to, among other things, systems, computer readable media, methods and any other means for requesting information from a server. In some embodiments, a client generates a URL request that is provided to the server. The URL request includes a format identifier that is specific to the server's type. The format identifier is also associated with the data format of a video stored on the server that the user is interested in. The server may then provide data that is associated with the format identifier.

Abstract: A computer-implemented method for use at a portable multifunction device with a touch screen display includes displaying a web page or portion thereof on the touch screen display. An activation of an options icon is detected. In response, a plurality of icons including a web-clip widget creation icon is displayed. An activation of the web-clip widget creation icon is detected; in response, a web-clip widget is created corresponding to the displayed web page or portion thereof.

Abstract: In a computer-implemented method at least a portion of a structured electronic document comprising content is displayed on a touch screen display of a portable electronic device. A gesture is detected on an item of inline multimedia content in the displayed portion of the structured electronic document. In response, the item of inline multimedia content on the touch screen display is enlarged and display of other content in the structured electronic document besides the enlarged item of inline multimedia content is ceased. A gesture on a play icon is detected. In response, the enlarged item of inline multimedia content is played.
