  • Publication number: 20240108966
Abstract: A skateboard truck includes a metal bolt called a kingpin and a threaded fastener, called a hex nut, which when combined hold the two main components of a truck together: the baseplate, which is mounted to the bottom surface of the skateboard deck; and the turning part of the truck called the hanger, which is mounted onto the baseplate by means of the kingpin, and affixed tightly into the baseplate by means of a threaded hex nut. Two bushings placed along the shaft of the kingpin and on either side of a flange protruding from the hanger hold the hanger in place by the tightening of the kingpin into the threaded shaft nut fastener. The kingpin is oriented such that a threaded portion of the kingpin (on an end opposite a bolt head portion) is generally facing towards a bottom surface of the skateboard deck.

  • Patent number: 7748725
Abstract: A skateboard deck is provided with a first lower layer and an upper layer coupled to an upper surface of the first lower layer. The upper layer includes a top surface provided in part by a fiber-reinforced layer and in part a side barrier. The skateboard deck may further include one or more additional lower layers affixed beneath the first lower layer. The fiber-reinforced layer may be inlaid within the side barrier, which may be an outer portion of a wood veneer or thermoplastic sheet. The fiber-reinforced layer may be formed substantially of woven para-aramid fibers encased in an adhesive matrix.

The fiber-reinforced layer and the side barrier may be die cut, the die cut removing a central portion of the wood veneer or thermoplastic sheet to provide an opening in which the fiber-reinforced layer is inlaid. The layers may be press molded together with the fiber-reinforced layer and the side barrier held together prior to the press molding by an adhesive tape.

  • Patent number: 7125083
Abstract: A wheel is provided for coupling to a bearing case at an outer cylindrical surface and a lateral annular surface of the bearing case. The wheel includes an inner wheel portion with an annular body defining a central hole with an inner cylindrical surface and a lateral annular surface for engaging the bearing case. The inner wheel portion may substantially comprise a thermoset, polyurethane material having a density and have a surface exhibiting a hardness. The wheel also may include an outer wheel portion bonded to the inner wheel portion. The outer wheel portion may be substantially comprised of the same thermoset, polyurethane material as the inner wheel portion. The outer wheel surface may exhibit a hardness substantially the same as that of the inner wheel surface. The inner wheel material may have a lesser density than that of the outer wheel material.

  • Publication number: 20050181164
Abstract: A grip tape is provided for application to a substrate without substantially entrapping air bubbles between the tape and the substrate. The tape includes a sheet of film of one or more plies, a layer of grit material fixed on one side of the sheet and an adhesive layer on the other and a plurality of perforations extending therethrough. The perforations are distributed over an area of the tape and provide openings for fluid passage therethrough that define a cumulative cross-sectional area that is no more than about 1% of the tape area over which the perforations are distributed. The perforations are sized and spaced apart to provide sufficient fluid passage therethrough to substantially prevent air bubbles from forming between the tape and the substrate.
