  • Publication number: 20070122320
Abstract: The present invention relates to a Wet Electrostatic Precipitator Air (WEPA) Purifier and purification method capable of stand-alone operation as the principal air purification system, particularly in military applications. This system is intended to supply small military units within a temporary structure clean, threat-free fresh air for periods up to 12 months without maintenance. The WEPA Purifier is configured to remove and sterilize biological threat particles from an airflow, and further remove and sequester radioactive particulates, thus allowing them to be safely removed at normal maintenance periods. The WEPA Purifier includes a wet electrostatic precipitator filtration element in which particles are charged and collected by a capturing solution flowing over an attracting electrode collection plate. The water is returned by gravity to a reservoir where it is disinfected and captured particles retained in a small, low maintenance, regenerative liquid filter.

  • Publication number: 20070109421
Abstract: A device determines the location of objects in an environment by receiving an optical image of an environment and converting the optical image of the environment into a live color digital image. The device employs software to perform an analysis of the live color digital image to determine the location of the environment having one or more lost object by using color and shape characteristics of the one or more objects. The software uses a range of the visible portion of the color space uniquely identified for the type of object in that environment and identifies those pixels in the color digital image that may be possible targets. Intensity of background and object size are used to exclude pixels as possible target objects.

Abstract: The present invention provides a ballast circuit and method for fabricating the same for multi-electrode corona discharge arrays. The circuit comprises a conductive plastic material and at least one corona electrode protruding from the conductive plastic material. The distance between the plastic material and the corona electrode varies and controls the electrical resistance and determines the voltage breakdown of the circuit. Additionally, a particle collection surface may preferably be located within the conductive plastic material or preferably be separated from the material depending on the circuit design and configuration.

  • Patent number: 5649021
Abstract: An apparatus and method for controlling an instrument is provided. The device may be a cutting tool for use in surgery, or other type of device applied to transform a specific object located in a defined area. The apparatus comprises a marker having a predetermined color. The marker is applied to the specific device or tool to form a marked device. An imager generates video signals representing a color image of the defined area. A color detector processes the imager signals to detect a range of colors in the image represented by the imager signals. The range of colors includes the predetermined color. The color detector provides an output signal representing instances of signals in the detected color range. A detection mechanism processes the output signal of the color detector to provide an indication of whether the detected instances represented by the output signal conform to the marked device.
