    Abstract: A cooling system for a heat source includes a heat source loop, a refrigerant loop, and a controller. The heat source loop provides a closed fluid path for a process fluid and fluidly connects a valve, a bypass leg and/or a heat exchange leg having a heat exchanger, and a pump. The process fluid is disposed within a portion of the loop and is subject to heat transfer from the heat source. The valve is disposed downstream of the heat source portion of the loop, wherein the valve is selectively operable to direct process fluid to the bypass leg and/or the heat exchanger leg. The refrigerant loop provides a closed fluid path for a fluid refrigerant and fluidly connects the heat exchanger, a refrigerant compressor, a refrigerant condenser, and a refrigerant regulator. The controller is in communication with the valve and is adapted to control the valve to regulate an amount of process fluid entering the bypass leg and the heat exchanger leg.

    Abstract: A system and method for mounting one or more air conditioning modules to the roof of a bus is disclosed. The system and method includes standardized, modular air conditioning modules which are capable of fitting a wide variety of bus geometries, and are attached to the bus roof by a set of rails which are fastened to the roof, the rails having flanges and a length which are tailored to the bus roof configuration so as to provide a standardized alignment by capturing the roof rail in a channel shaped formation.

    Abstract: A bus rooftop air conditioning system is made up of one or more self-contained modules having one or more evaporator sections and one or more condenser sections, with each extending transversely across the width of the bus, and with the evaporator sections fluidly communicating with both a common return air opening and a common supply air opening of the bus. The modules may be of a single unit configuration with a single condenser section and a single evaporator section or they may be of a double unit configuration having two condenser sections and two evaporator sections. The total capacity requirements are met by combining the use of single units and double unit configuration, with each of the evaporator sections communicating with a single return air opening and a single supply air opening in a bus.
