Patent number: 11954022Abstract: Provided are a storage device, system, and method for throttling host writes in a host buffer to a storage device. The storage device is coupled to a host system having a host buffer that includes reads and writes to pages of the storage device. Garbage collection consolidates valid data from pages in the storage device to fewer pages. A determination is made as to whether a processing measurement at the storage device satisfies a threshold. A timer value is set to a positive value in response to determining that the processing measurement satisfies the threshold. The timer is started to run for the timer value. Writes from the host buffer are blocked while the timer is running. Writes remain in the host buffer while the timer is running. A write is accepted from the host buffer to process in response to expiration of the timer.Type: GrantFiled: March 2, 2022Date of Patent: April 9, 2024Assignee: INTERNATIONAL BUSINESS MACHINES CORPORATIONInventors: Matthew S. Reuter, Timothy J. Fisher, Aaron Daniel Fry, Jenny L. Brown, John Carrington Cates, Austin Eberle

Patent number: 6061873Abstract: Apparatus comprising a platform having a flank panel connected pivotally to a lateral margin of the seat or platform by means of a hinge device, wherein the hinge device comprises at least two mountings and a moulding comprising an elongate flexible web bridging mounting formation which are releasable securable on the mountings; wherein one of the mountings is provided on or secured to the lateral margin of the platform and the other of the mounting is provided on or secured to a margin of the flank panel; so that the web of the moulding provides a flexible bridge between the platform and flank panel.Type: GrantFiled: December 21, 1998Date of Patent: May 16, 2000Assignee: Mangar International LimitedInventor: Timothy S Fry

Patent number: 4704921Abstract: A differential gear drive having two output shafts each coupled through a differential gear train to a common input gear. The differential gear train comprises an annulus gear engaging the input gear, planet gears and a sun wheel. The output shaft is connected to a planet carrier and the output shaft is connected to the sun wheel. A pair of cam rings are rotatably coupled to the respective output shafts and are respectively coupled via clutch teeth to clutch rings respectively, which are engageable separately with a pair of meshing reference gears. The reference gear is rotatably fixed by a countershaft to the input gear. When both output shafts are driving against substantially equal torques the clutch rings are both disengaged from the reference gear and so the drive to each shaft is via the differential gear train.Type: GrantFiled: April 9, 1986Date of Patent: November 10, 1987Assignee: Bartel Engineering LimitedInventor: Timothy S. Patent number: 4465292Abstract: A vehicle with a chassis, a rigid axle carrying steerable wheels, a steering box or idler unit mounted on the chassis and connected by a linkage to the steerable wheels, wherein the steering box is pivotally mounted on the chassis about a horizontal fore and aft axis, and there is a compensating link connecting the axle and the steering box. When relative movement between the axle and chassis occurs, any component of such movement which could otherwise produce an undesired steering movement of the wheels, the steering box is caused to pivot by the compensating link so that no undesired steering movement of the wheels occurs.Type: GrantFiled: June 8, 1982Date of Patent: August 14, 1984Assignee: GKN Group Services LimitedInventors: Timothy S. Fry, Graham C. Cole

Patent number: 4294326Abstract: A motor vehicle wheel support assembly, with a stationary casing, a stub axle for a road wheel supported within the casing by thin-walled bearing liners, a thrust plate carried by the axle and engaged by thrust washers in the casing to take axial loads, and a reservoir above the bearing liners from which lubricant is delivered to the liners. Lubricant collects in a sump at the bottom of the casing and is returned to the reservoir by being impelled by the thrust plate.Type: GrantFiled: November 14, 1979Date of Patent: October 13, 1981Assignee: GKN Group Services LimitedInventor: Timothy S. Patent number: 4278270Abstract: A vehicle having a rigid axle connected to the vehicle chassis by link assemblies each comprising a first link connected at an end of the axle and an upper, second, link pivoted at one end to the chassis, the other ends of the two links being pivoted together. A spring acts on the second link at a position to give a displacement of the spring in roll of between 75% and 125% of its displacement in bump. The upper link may be triangulated in an assembly to provide for pivoting of its connection with the first link about an axis inclined to the vehicle center line.Type: GrantFiled: August 2, 1978Date of Patent: July 14, 1981Assignee: GKN Group Services LimitedInventor: Timothy S. Patent number: 4223913Abstract: A steerable vehicle has at least one rigid axle carrying steerable wheels, a steering box secured to the axle, and an input rotatable relative to the housing of the steering box with steering control means having first and second relatively rotatable parts, a connection between the first part of the steering control means and the housing of the box having a first element arranged to take up an average position between the first part and the housing during relative rotation therebetween, and a differential gearing between the second part of the control means and the input to the steering box, the differential gearing having a second element which takes up an average position between the second part and input during relative rotation, the first and second elements being connected for simultaneous movement. This prevents steering of the wheels due to relative roll occurring between the steering box and the control means.Type: GrantFiled: August 30, 1978Date of Patent: September 23, 1980Assignee: GKN Group Services LimitedInventor: Timothy S. Patent number: 4223910Abstract: An axle assembly for a road vehicle comprising a beam constrained at its center against movement transversely of the vehicle but permitted universal pivoting movement, and having at each end a spindle which carries a hub, an upwardly extending arm and at least one radius rod connected to each arm remote from the spindle. The beam may be constrained by a V-shaped link having its apex universally jointed to the axle beam and its base pivotally connected to the vehicle chassis.Type: GrantFiled: August 2, 1978Date of Patent: September 23, 1980Assignee: GKN Group Services LimitedInventor: Timothy S. Fry

Patent number: 4223902Abstract: A steerable wheel mounting assembly of a vehicle, with a steerable element mounted relative to a non-steerable element, e.g. an axle beam, by bearings located wholly below the rotary axis of a wheel hub carried by the steerable element, the latter being steered by a link connected to it below such axis and the bearings lubricated from the lubricant supply of the hub.Type: GrantFiled: January 31, 1979Date of Patent: September 23, 1980Assignee: GKN Group Services LimitedInventor: Timothy S.
