Abstract: System, methods, apparatuses, and computer program products are disclosed for using a large language model (LLM) to generate an index recommendation for a database table. A prompt is provided to an LLM to request an index recommendation for a table of a database. The prompt includes index recommendation guidelines and information associated with the table that is determined from one or more sources. An index recommendation is received from the LLM, and an action is performed based on the received index recommendation.
