  • Patent number: 5361512
Abstract: A method and apparatus for applying herbicide to the interior of sewer lines. The invention includes a heating assembly which is capable of raising the temperature of the herbicide such that it enters a gaseous state. This gaseous herbicide is then forced through flexible tubing and into the sewer line where it attacks flora infestations therein. A highly saturated atmosphere is maintained within the sewer line by a pair of inflatable inner-tube type devices which entrap the gaseous herbicide within the area of sewer line to be treated.
    Type: Grant
    Filed: July 27, 1992
Date of Patent: November 8, 1994
    Assignee: General Chemical Co.
    Inventor: Timothy W. Tobiason
  • Patent number: 5264146
Abstract: The present invention includes a drain cleaning agent and a foaming agent. The foaming agent consists of a gas releasing compound and a surfactant or detergent. This mixture may be flushed into a drain or sewer line where it reacts with water to produce a large volume of foam which then will react with sewage deposits cause their breakdown and removal.

  • Patent number: 5165434
Abstract: An apparatus for applying dry herbicides to sewer lines which includes a container for storing a herbicide, a length of tubing, and nozzle means connected to the tubing. Also included are means for propelling herbicide stored in the container through the tubing such that herbicide may be dispersed from the nozzle. Locomotion means are also provided for transporting the nozzle within the interior of a sewer line such that the interior surfaces of a sewer line may be sprayed with a herbicide. In this fashion herbicide may be directed at any flora growing within the sewer line.

  • Patent number: 5069706
Abstract: The present invention includes a herbicide having a phytocidal effect on roots and the like, and a foaming agent. The foaming agent consists of gas releasing compound and a surfactant or detergent. To inhibit the growth of flora in or around sewer lines this mixture may be flushed into a sewer line. The gas releasing acts as a carrier of the herbicide through the sewer line. Roots or the like growing within the sewer line are coated with the herbicide carrying foaming agent.

  • Patent number: 5062878
Abstract: The present invention includes a herbicide having a phytocidal effect on roots and the like, and a foaming agent. The foaming agent consists of a gas releasing compound and a surfactant or detergent. To inhibit the growth of flora in or around sewer lines this mixture may be flushed into a sewer line. The gas releasing compound causes the surfactant or detergent to foam, and the foam acts as a carrier of the herbicide through the sewer line. Roots or the like growing within the sewer line are coated with the herbicide carrying foaming agent.
