  • Patent number: 11339845
Abstract: An acoustic shield for protecting a vibrational sensitive device includes a first unit cell and a second unit cell. The first unit cell includes a first locally resonant unit. The first locally resonant unit controls a first phase gradient and the first unit cell includes a first surface. The second unit cell includes a second surface proximate to the first surface. The second unit cell includes a second locally resonant unit embedded along the second interface. The second locally resonant unit controls a second phase gradient. The first phase gradient is different from the second phase gradient. The first unit cell and the second unit cell comprise a super cell. The acoustic shield is configured such that a vibrational wave from a first side of the super cell to a second side of the super cell is substantially attenuated.

  • Patent number: 11287506
Abstract: A method and apparatus for determining a direction of infrasound. Infrasound is received by a directional infrasound sensor comprising a plurality of channels and a plurality of sensor devices. Each channel in the plurality of channels comprises a single opening at a first end of the channel and a closed end opposite the opening. The opening of each channel in the plurality of channels is pointed in a different direction from the opening of each other channel in the plurality of channels. The plurality of sensor devices includes a sensor device at the closed end of each channel in the plurality of channels. Each sensor device in the plurality of sensor devices is configured to generate a sensor signal in response to pressure. • Patent number: 11219818
Abstract: A collapsible, self-expanding polyhedron comprises a plurality of side members each connected with an elastic band that is sized to urge each side wall of adjacent side members together to form an expanded configuration. When the polyhedron is compressed on two opposing side members, which causes the other side members to separate into a collapsed configuration, the elastic band expands to a maximum length with maximum tension. Once the compression is released, the at least one elastic band retracts back to a minimum length and urges the side members back into the expanded configuration.

Abstract: Personal protective devices have a carrying bag, such as a purse, and a separate bullet resistant vest or penetration resistant (to stab wounds) vest comprises at least one neck sling and at least one torso strap. The bullet/penetration resistant vest is dimensioned to removably fit within the carrying bag. The carrying bags are configured to provide a “ready state” wherein a bullet resistant shield and neck sling are within the carrying bag while at least a connector attached to the end of a deployable torso strap(s) is outside of the carrying bag. The carrying bag has at least one slot designed to allow the torso strap(s) to be pre-fed from the interior of the carrying bag to a position exterior of the carrying bag. In this “ready state”, the majority of the torso strap is maintained within the interior of the carrying bag. The neck sling and torso straps are deployable to secure the vest to a wearer's torso in the deployed position.
