  • Publication number: 20060167442
Abstract: In some embodiments, without limitation, the invention comprises a catheter having an elongated housing with a channel disposed therein. A laser delivery member is movable and at least partially disposed within the channel. A ramp is disposed within the housing at an angle to its central axis and proximate to its distal end. The ramp is adapted to move the distal end of the laser delivery member outwardly from the central axis of the housing. A guidewire biases the distal end of the laser delivery member generally inwardly toward the central axis of the housing. In some embodiments, without limitation, the offset of the central axis of the tip of the laser delivery member from the central axis of the housing is determined by adjusting the extent to which the laser delivery member travels on the ramp, and disposition of the laser delivery member on the guidewire maintains the offset tip substantially parallel to the central axis of the housing.

  • Publication number: 20060041229
Abstract: A device for delivering fluid, such as insulin for example, to a patient. The device includes a flow path having an exit port assembly adapted to connect to a transcutaneous patient access tool, and a reservoir connected to the exit port assembly. The device also includes a flow restriction system having an air removal filter communicating with the flow path and allowing air to exit the flow path and preventing fluid from exiting the flow path, and a flow restrictor positioned within the flow path between the air removal filter and the exit port assembly. Among other features and advantages, the flow restriction system of the present invention allows the flow path of the fluid delivery device to be purged of air, or “primed” prior to operation, such that desired volumes of fluid can be accurately delivered by the device.

  • Publication number: 20030215852
Abstract: This invention relates to newly identified human pancortin polypeptides, the interaction of the pancortin polypeptides with a Pablo polypeptide, the use of such polypeptides, as well as the production of such polypeptides. The invention relates also to identifying compounds which modulate the activity of a pancortin polypeptides and/or the interaction of a pancortin-Pablo polypeptide interaction, wherein modulators can be agonists, antagonists and/or inhibitors of pancortin and/or the pancortin/Pablo interaction and therefore potentially useful in therapy.

  • Patent number: 6438689
Abstract: A data processing system includes a bus network interconnecting a data processor and one or more adapter cards, and providing for the data processor to bypass initialization of the adapter cards in response to a user indication entered prior to the initialization. This allows the system to be booted even in the event of an adapter card failure which causes the system to hang during initialization. The data processing system also enters a setup routine allowing the user to disable one or more of the adapter cards. The user indication may be entered at a remote computer where the data processing system is connected as a client computer to a server computer system by a network.

  • Publication number: 20020052816
Abstract: Computer processing of order data received at a computer system in connection with the sale and purchase of debt instruments in a primary market includes automatically adjusting an order size based on a investor-specified demand curve for a debt instrument and a market value that established subsequent to the receipt of the purchase order. The demand quantity can be specified by a collection of discrete data sets, each including a market value and a demand quantity at that market value. A dynamically updated order book that aggregates the received orders to distinguish demand for the debt instrument at different market values can be displayed to an issuer and used to establish the market value of the debt instrument. The order book may be updated upon request during a subscription period for the debt instrument to enable access to an updated status of orders placed for the issue. Purchases may be automatically transacted using swaps to satisfy payment obligations for received allocations of the new issue.

  • Patent number: 5691741
Abstract: Display apparatus comprises a connection for releasably connecting a display device (130;130') to the display apparatus. A data input (MON.sub.-- ID) receives first data from a first releasable connection (ST) to the display device (130;130') and for receiving second data from a second releasable connection (ID) to the display device (130;130'). Switch (320) selectively connects the data input (MON.sub.-- ID) to either of the first releasable connection (ST) and the second releasable connection (ID). Display processor logic (310) is connected to the switch (320) for generating one or more video signals to generate an image on the display device (130,130') as a function of the data directed to the data input (MON.sub.-- ID) from the display device (130;130') by the switch (320).

  • Patent number: 5372372
Abstract: A cart and a method of using the cart for tying steel rods, which cart includes a substantially rectangular frame supporting front and rear rollers. The rollers are in the form of cylinders having a substantial width which is much greater than the largest anticipated spacing between parallel reinforcement rods. The use of the cylinders as rollers allows the cart to travel upon the uppermost layer or set of reinforcing rods without becoming entangled in the lattice of reinforcing rods. A cushioned seat may be located on the frame adjacent an open area extending through the frame. The worker may support herself or himself upon this cushioned portion while the open area provides access to the lattice for tying the rods together. Vertical bars may support an alternate cushion at a position spaced upwardly from the reinforcing rods. The user may then rest his or her stomach or chest upon this upper cushion and lie in a faced down configuration with the reinforcing rods at arms length.
