  • Patent number: 8303571
Abstract: A multiple-line connective device for use in a medication infusing system includes a connective device body forming a main flow passage from an inlet to an outlet along a longitudinal axis, the main flow passage including an interior surface having a raised surface feature configured to induce turbulent liquid flow through the main flow passage. One or more branches extend from the connective device body, each defining at least one branch passage in communication with the main flow passage. Each branch passage enters the main flow passage at an angle with respect to the longitudinal axis that imparts a flow through the branch passage that has a directional component that is parallel to the longitudinal axis and in the direction from the inlet to the outlet.

  • Patent number: 8162914
Abstract: Cap adapters for a medicament vial configured to facilitate the transfer of liquid medicament from the vial and into a syringe. In one embodiment the cap adapter comprises a wall portion with a first lumen passing through it. A vial-engaging portion secures the cap adapter to the vial. A spike extends from the wall portion and defines a second lumen passing through the wall portion. A cone-shaped shield extends from the first lumen. The shield is configured to guide a hypodermic needle toward the first lumen to thereby reduce a risk of needlestick to a user handling the vial. In certain embodiments, a light source cooperates with the cap adapter to illuminate at least a portion of the cap adapter to reduce a risk of needlestick to a user handling the vial in a darkened environment. In certain embodiments, a secondary sealing member abuts a first face of the wall portion and seals an end of the first lumen.

  • Patent number: 7455662
Abstract: In an IV administration set including an IV solution container, a drip chamber having a hollow spike for introduction into the container, and an IV line having a port for delivering the IV solution to a patient, a system for identifying the components of the set includes a first identification element removably attached to the drip chamber for subsequent attachment to the container; a second identification element affixed to the drip chamber; and a third identification element either permanently or removably attached to the port. The first identification element is adhesively attached to the drip chamber to allow its removal for subsequent attachment to the container. The second identification element is permanently affixed to the drip chamber. The third identification element is integral with or removably attached to the IV line port. The first, second, and third identification elements bear matching identification symbols.
