  • Patent number: 11486242
Abstract: A method for wellbore treatment. The method including preparing an encapsulated treatment agent via polymerization, feeding the encapsulated treatment agent into the wellbore, delivering the encapsulated treatment agent to a desired depth within a formation in the wellbore, activating an acoustic or an electromagnetic source at the desired depth within the formation, and generating an acoustic field or an electromagnetic field. The acoustic field or electromagnetic field activates the encapsulant thereby releasing the treatment agent into the wellbore and a desired depth.

Date of Patent: November 1, 2022
    Assignee: SAUDI ARABIAN OIL COMPANY

  • Publication number: 20220179112
Abstract: A system including a sonic source deployed in a first borehole and a fiber optic distributed sensor deployed in a second borehole, both boreholes extending from an earth surface into a formation. The optical fiber is configured to react along its length to incident sonic waves generated by the sonic source and propagating through the first borehole, through the formation, and through the second borehole. The system further includes an optical source to launch optical pulses into the fiber optic distributed sensor while the sonic waves are incident on the fiber optic distributed sensor. The system also includes a data acquisition system coupled to the fiber optic distributed sensor to detect temporal variations in coherent Rayleigh noise (CRN) generated in the fiber optic distributed sensor in response to the optical pulses and the incident sonic waves; and a computer system configured to receive data from the data acquisition system.

  • Patent number: 9081121
Abstract: The method of a mud cake thickness determination provides sending short high-frequency signals into a formation from at least two positions located at different distances from the mud cake and recording arrival times of reflected echo signals. The mud cake thickness is determined based on the time measured.
    Type: Grant
    Filed: December 6, 2011
Date of Patent: July 14, 2015
    Assignee: Schlumberger Technology Corporation
Inventors: Timur Zharnikov, Masafumi Fukuhara, Alexander F. Zazovsky, Fernando Garcia-Osuna
  • Patent number: 8429962
Abstract: Methods and apparatus to control a formation testing operation based on a mudcake leakage are disclosed. A disclosed example method for use with a downhole tool disposed in a wellbore comprises measuring a property of a mudcake layer at a first location in a wellbore, determining a value representative of an estimated leakage through the mudcake layer based on the property, and determining, based on the value, whether to continue a formation testing operation.
