  • Publication number: 20170154281
Abstract: An approach is provided in which an information handling system trains multiple classifiers using a set of training samples. The information handling system selects a leader classifier from the multiple classifiers that generates the most amount of correct decisions corresponding to the set of training samples. Next, the information handling system identifies an endorser classifier from the multiple classifiers that generates the highest proportion of correct decisions among the endorser classifier's decisions matching the leader classifier's decisions, and combines the leader classifier and the endorser classifier into a combined classifier stage. In turn, the information handling system utilizes the combined classifier stage to process inquiries and generate results.

  • Publication number: 20150248680
Abstract: An opinion score for a customer associated with a service provider can be determined based on a first function. Parameters of the first function are determined are determined in conjunction with determining parameters of a second function that relates a first probability of a customer behavior event to the opinion score and a third function that relates a second probability of a customer action to an accumulation of the opinion score over a predetermined time interval. The parameters are determined based on one or more values representative of session performance associated with the customer, a measured value of the first probability, and a measured value of the second probability. The parameters are stored in a profile associated with the customer.

  • Patent number: 8699357
Abstract: Improved techniques are disclosed for detecting instability events in data communications systems that support inter-administrative domain (inter-domain) routing. For example, a technique for detecting an instability event in a communications system supporting inter-administrative domain routing includes the following steps. At an inter-domain router, one or more features are extracted from one or more messages obtained from at least another router in the communications system. The one or more extracted features include a path length feature, a path edit distance feature, or a combination thereof. Then, the inter-domain router detects whether an instability event has occurred in the communications system based on the one or more extracted features such that an action can be effectuated. By way of example, the one or more messages may include one or more border gateway protocol update messages and the inter-domain router may be a border gateway protocol router.

  • Publication number: 20100203901
Abstract: Location-based services are provided in a communication system comprising a wireless network. In one aspect, information indicative of location of a given mobile user device of the system is periodically collected. The collected location information is processed in a server or other processing device of the system to determine at least one normal pattern of movement of the mobile user device from at least a first location to a second location. An alert is generated if subsequent movement of the mobile user device from the first location to the second location exhibits a significant deviation from the normal pattern of movement. The normal pattern of movement may be used to generate a multidimensional geofence that includes, in addition to a geographic area dimension, at least one additional dimension such as, for example, a speed of movement dimension, a direction of movement dimension, a stop duration dimension, or a related device proximity dimension.

  • Patent number: 6900762
Abstract: Systems and techniques for location determination. A plurality of tags emitting radio frequency signals are dispersed throughout a region, such as a building, within which a user's location is to be determined. The radio frequency signals emitted by the tags include information that can be used to identify the location in which the tags axe placed, or simply to distinguish the tags from one another. A portable device receives signals from the tags and provides the signal information to a location server that computes the location of the portable device by comparing the signal information received from the portable device to a map of location venus stored signal information, and identifies the location of the portable device as the location for which the stored signal information best matches the signal information received from the portable device.

  • Patent number: 6252988
Abstract: An adaptive OCR technique for character classification and recognition without the input and use of ground truth derived from the image itself. A set of so-called stop words are employed for classifying symbols, e.g., characters, from any image. The stop words are identified independent of any particular image and are used for classification purposes across any set of images of the same language, e.g., English. Advantageously, an adaptive OCR method is realized without the requirement of the selection and inputting of ground truth from each individual image to be recognized.

  • Patent number: 6052483
Abstract: An image classifier receives input images and assigns each input image to one of a plurality of image classes. The image classifier includes plural class distribution maps, each based on a plurality of features evaluated on training images, and each representing those feature values that occur at least once among the training images belonging to the corresponding class. The image classifier further includes means for constructing a test map by evaluating the plurality of features on the input image. The image classifier further includes means for comparing the test map to the class distribution maps in order to identify which one of the class distribution maps has the least distance to the test map. At least one of the features is defined according to a rule that relates to the shapes of images of at least one image class. One advantageous method for evaluating features is carried out storing the input pattern, in a digital memory, as a point in a representational space.

  • Patent number: 6009199
Abstract: In a decision-forest classifier in accordance with the invention, a decision forest including multiple decision trees is used to classify "seen" training data and "unseen" data. Each individual tree performs an initial classification based on randomly selected subsets of the data. The classification outcomes by the individual trees are combined using a discriminant process in the decision-forest classier to render the ultimate classification decision.
