Abstract: System and method for logging significant events occurring at a web site portal includes a base class portlet service including a significant event catcher method having a register method and a record method, a portlet action table, and an action description table. The register method is called during portlet initialization to register one or more significant event descriptions to the action description table. The portlet, upon executing a significant event, calls the record method to record the event to the portlet action table.

Abstract: A method for designing object-oriented software for implementing portlets, and an associated computer system and computer program product. The portlets are available to a user of the software who clicks on a link of a first page to identify an action object of an Action class and a state object of a State class. The software includes the State class, the Action class, and program code. The State class includes a method for displaying a view of a page. The Action class includes an actionPerformed method for performing an action and a setState method for setting the state object into the session. The program code is adapted to execute: the actionPerformed method of the action object to perform the action; the setState method of the action object to set the state object; and the method of the state object to display a view of a second page.

Abstract: The present invention provides a method, system, and computer program product for routing sessions to a specific Uniform Resource Locator (URL) in a multi-site environment. An ordered list of servers is provided in a multi-site environment. Upon receipt of a session request submitted by a user, the ordered list of servers is looped through until a valid URL is found. When a valid URL is found, the session request is redirected to the server in the multi-site environment specified by the valid URL.

Abstract: Under the present invention, searchable content is loaded into a search engine database, while displayable content is stored in a file system (e.g., in an XML file or the like) that is architecturally separate from the search engine database. Searchable content is associated with corresponding displayable content through links/pointers. In addition, tags for formatting the displayable content are provided in a style sheet or the like that is referenced by the displayable content file. When a search request for one or more search items is received by the search engine, the searchable content in the database will be searched. When appropriate searchable content is located, the corresponding displayable content will be located through the links. Once located, the displayable content will be formatted according to formatting tags contained in the associated style sheet. After formatting, the displayable content will then be presented to the user.
