    Abstract: A retention feature for securing a trim component to a panel of an automotive vehicle includes an elongate clip extending from the trim component and a selectively releasable locking device disposed on the panel. The clip is configured to be inserted through an opening defined by the panel. The locking device includes: a restraining portion on a first side of the panel; an actuating portion on a second side of the panel; and a biasing feature configured to compliantly bias the restraining portion into the locked state. The restraining portion of the locking device obstructs the withdrawal of the elongate clip from the panel when in a locked state, and is configured to transition from the locked state to an unlocked state in response to the application of a force to the actuating portion.

    Abstract: A shielded heat exchanger and method of use in a vehicle is disclosed. The shielded heat exchanger may comprise a pair of spaced apart headers configured to contain a fluid flowing through the shielded heat exchanger, and a shielded tube. The shielded tube extends between the pair of headers and has a front edge. The shielded tube includes a flowing channel that operatively engages the headers for fluid flow through the flowing channel between the headers and a shielding channel extending parallel to the flowing channel between the headers along the front edge of the shielding tube, with the shielding channel configured to prevent flow of the fluid from the headers into the shielding channel.

    Abstract: The invention concerns an access plate for use in a vehicle to cover an aperture in an engine ring, where the engine ring and an engine cover seal against each other. The access plate may include a main body portion, made of a first material having a first durometer, extending across the aperture, and defining a first portion of an outer surface that sealingly engages with the second component; and a seal, made of a second lower durometer material, wherein the seal portion is integral with the main body portion, and the seal portion includes an underside surface in opposed relation to the outer surface that sealingly engages with first component. The access plate may include snap clips, to secure the plate to the engine ring, locating pins to locate the access plate on the ring, and tapered end features to assure a good seal against the engine cover.
