  • Patent number: 11956084
Abstract: A communication protocol provides improved bidirectional communication performance between a wireless stereo headset (12) and a host device (19). The communication protocol provides communication paths between the host device (19) and each ear piece (12a, 12b) of the wireless stereo headset (12), as well as a communication path (17) between the two ear pieces (12a, 12b). In addition to receiving audio information from the host device (19), each ear piece (12a, 12b) may request audio information from the other ear piece (12b, 12a), thus obtaining path diversity in the downlink. One ear piece (12a, 12b) may acknowledge the host device (10) for a correctly received packet, which the other ear piece (12a, 12b) missed, avoiding retransmissions. The ear pieces (12a, 12b) may exchange picked-up voice content to send to the host device (19), providing for path diversity in the uplink.

Using special control messages on connection between the ear pieces (12a, 12b), the ear pieces (12a, 12b) inform each other which audio information has been received successfully from the host device (19).

  • Patent number: 8331848
Abstract: A wireless communication apparatus and method are provided for operation in a communication network. The wireless communication apparatus comprises a receiver unit operative to receive control data and audio data from an audio gateway; a control unit operative to use the control data to provide a connection between the wireless communication apparatus and the audio gateway for communication of the audio data; and a transmitter unit. The receiver unit is operative to receive from another wireless communication apparatus a request for the control data. The control unit is operative to forward via the transmitter unit the control data to the other wireless communication apparatus in response to the request. The other communication apparatus and a method for requesting the control data are also provided.

  • Patent number: 7925214
Abstract: Bluetooth standard provides the applications with different profiles which allow for example only a specific number of devices operable in one network using the same profile. Without changing the Bluetooth standards the described apparatus and method provide a solution to allow wireless devices to receive data addressed to other wireless devices. Therefore a wireless electronic apparatus for Bluetooth communication receives data specifically addressed to said wireless electronic apparatus and to a wireless electronic device for Bluetooth communication, said wireless electronic device being operable to receive data specifically addressed to said wireless electronic device, said wireless electronic apparatus being different from said wireless electronic device. This can be realised for example by a wrist display which can pickup the electromagnetic waves containing the audio signals sent to the headset.
