  • Patent number: 10263139
Abstract: A fabrication method of a nitride semiconductor LED includes, an AlxInyGa1-x-yN material layer is deposited by CVD between an AlN thin film layer by PVD and a gallium nitride series layer by CVD, to reduce the stress effect between the AlN thin film layer and the nitride layer, improve the overall quality of the LED and efficiency. An AlN thin film layer is deposited on a patterned substrate having a larger depth by PVD, and a thin nitrogen epitaxial layer is deposited on the AIN thin film layer by CVD, which reduces the stress by reducing the thickness of the epitaxial layer and improves warpage of the wafer and electric uniformity of the single wafer; the light extraction efficiency is improved by using the large depth patterned substrate; further, the doping of high-concentration impurity in the active layer effectively reduces voltage characteristics without affecting leakage, thereby improving the overall yield.

  • Publication number: 20190107431
Abstract: An airplane fuel level optical sensor using one side-emitting plastic optical fiber (SPOF) and two fluorescent plastic optical fibers (FPOFs) to detect the airplane fuel level without using any electrically conductive component or element placed inside the fuel tank. This dual-FPOF sensor is capable of achieving high resolution and high accuracy with a one-time calibration in the actual airplane's fuel tank environment. One embodiment of the dual-FPOF sensor uses one SPOF and two FPOFs to detect fuel level change based on the optical signal output from the two FPOFs. The sensor design uses large-diameter (core and cladding), lightweight, low-cost and high-durability plastic optical fiber, which is very desirable for airplane installation.

  • Publication number: 20190105284
Abstract: A dietary supplement composition provided synergistic effects of xanthorrhizol and tocotrienol on malignancies. A blend of xanthorrhizol and delta tocotrienol achieved 69% growth suppression of melanoma, exceeding the sum of individual effects. In prostate cancer, 90% growth suppression was achieved by a blend of xanthorrhizol and delta tocotrienol; however, the same 90% of growth suppression was achieved by 3-fold xanthorrhizol and 1.8-fold delta tocotrienol respectively, which indicated synergistic impact of the two agents. Mechanisms of action for the anticancer property showed synergism of xanthorrhizol and tocotrienol-mediated cancer growth suppression was attributed to cell cycle arrest, at the G1 phase of cell cycle, and apoptosis. This novel dietary supplement combination of xanthorrhizol to tocotrienol (1:1 to 10:1) may provide benefits to individuals consuming it on a regular or periodic basis.

  • Publication number: 20190109194
Abstract: A method and structure for providing a two-step defect reduction bake, followed by a high-temperature epitaxial layer growth. In various embodiments, a semiconductor wafer is loaded into a processing chamber. While the semiconductor wafer is loaded within the processing chamber, a first pre-epitaxial layer deposition baking process is performed at a first pressure and first temperature. In some cases, after the first pre-epitaxial layer deposition baking process, a second pre-epitaxial layer deposition baking process is then performed at a second pressure and second temperature. In some embodiments, the second pressure is different than the first pressure. By way of example, after the second pre-epitaxial layer deposition baking process and while at a growth temperature, a precursor gas may then be introduced into the processing chamber to deposit an epitaxial layer over the semiconductor wafer.

  • Publication number: 20190108601
Abstract: Rapid reordering may be performed by a two-step process. A user interface may present a user with a first user interface control, which can be a button or other user interface control that enables a user interface to initiate an express reorder of a previously-ordered item. Once the user has selected the button, the user interface can present default details about the order along with a second user interface control, which can be a swipe bar or another button (or some other control). User selection of the second user interface control can complete the reorder process. Although described with respect to reordering, this two-step process can also be used for ordering items not previously ordered by a user before.
