  • Publication number: 20130010663
Abstract: Aspects of the present disclosure allow a mobile station (MS) to maintain data activity while performing handover operations within the WiMAX network and listening to a CDMA 1x paging cycle. According to aspects, the MS maintains timing of a base station (BS) in a first radio access technology (RAT) and a BS in a second RAT. The MS may determine an expected timing of a paging cycle in the second RAT and send a sleep request to the BS in the first RAT such that the sleep interval coincides with the timing of the paging cycle in the second RAT. The MS may perform operations to ensure a sleep interval, after performing handover operations, coincides with the timing of the paging cycle in the second RAT.

  • Patent number: 8352213
Abstract: A probe monitoring system for riverbed elevation monitoring at bridge piers is revealed. The system includes a housing, a measuring rod, a moving member, a control module, a photographic unit and a sensing unit. The housing is fixed on the pier. Both the moving member for driving the measuring rod and the control module for control of the moving member are mounted in the housing. When the control module drives the measuring rod to move downward and the sensing unit on the bottom of the measuring rod approaches the riverbed, a sensing signal is sent to the control module. Thus the moving member stops moving the measuring rod and the photographic unit takes pictures of the measuring rod to generate an image. Then the riverbed elevation is obtained according to the image or the movement of the moving member and is sent to a remote monitor unit for real-time monitoring.

  • Patent number: 8352754
Abstract: In a communications system, such as a Power-Over-Ethernet system, where power supply equipment (PSE) supplies power to powered requiring devices (PRDs), a system and method of dynamic power management is implemented. The system and method monitors the power consumed at each port by the PRDs. Based on this monitoring, the PSE dynamically determines the minimum power which can be allocated to each PRD, and so dynamically maximizes the available reserve power. The PSE maintains a queue or queues wherein PRDs are listed in order of a power allocation priority. When additional power is available, the PSE preferentially allocates power to a PRD or PRDs which have higher priority. The system and method of the present invention minimizes the power allocated to each individual network device, as a result of which the total number of network devices that can be supported with the available power may be maximized.
