  • Publication number: 20150178970
Abstract: A method of blurring an image using a spatially variable blur is disclosed. The method comprises the steps of: for each pixel of a scan line of pixels in the image: obtaining a measure representative of image depth at the pixel; determining a blur kernel width for the pixel based on the measure representative of image depth at the pixel; and where an increase in the determined blur kernel width with respect to a blur kernel width of a previous pixel in the scan line is detected: determining, from the determined blur kernel width, a tapered blur width adapted to provide an asymmetric filter response for the pixel; and applying the tapered blur width to a filter to output a blurred pixel value for the pixel by using a plurality of filter coefficients determined based on blur width values of one or more previously blurred pixels.

  • Publication number: 20150179935
Abstract: Embodiments of the invention generally relate to nonvolatile memory devices and methods for manufacturing such memory devices. The methods for forming improved memory devices, such as a ReRAM cells, provide optimized, atomic layer deposition (ALD) processes for forming a metal oxide film stack which contains at least one hard metal oxide film (e.g., metal is completely oxidized or substantially oxidized) and at least one soft metal oxide film (e.g., metal is less oxidized than hard metal oxide). The soft metal oxide film is less electrically resistive than the hard metal oxide film since the soft metal oxide film is less oxidized or more metallic than the hard metal oxide film. In one example, the hard metal oxide film is formed by an ALD process utilizing ozone as the oxidizing agent while the soft metal oxide film is formed by another ALD process utilizing water vapor as the oxidizing agent.

  • Publication number: 20150178680
Abstract: Systems, methods and software for aggregating and publishing innovations. In particular, users of this system may submit patent disclosures on various topics or technology areas. The system may then route the idea submissions through the patenting process to relatively rapidly develop a large patent portfolio. In some instances, the submissions may be published to be made accessible by others as part of a first to publish infrastructure. Further, the system may provide back end support for innovation cultivation and harvesting, innovation road mapping and brainstorming, and collaboration.

  • Publication number: 20150180428
Abstract: The output of a carrier amplifier circuit in a Doherty amplifier is coupled to the summing node so that the impedance observed by the carrier amplifier's output is approximately equal to the load impedance at the combining node when the load impedance is not modulated. In an example non-inverting configuration, a power amplifier circuit is configured to provide an amplified signal to a load at a summing node, where the load has a first impedance when not load-modulated. The power amplifier circuit includes a splitter network arranged to receive the input signal and to split the input signal to provide a carrier input signal and a peaking input signal, a carrier amplifier path configured to amplify the carrier input signal in a full-power mode and in a first backoff mode, and a peaking amplifier path configured to amplify the peaking input signal in at least the full-power mode.

  • Patent number: 9065397
Abstract: Various embodiments provide for systems and methods for increased linear output power of a transmitter. An exemplary wireless communications system for transmitting an input signal comprises a predistorter module, a GaN power amplifier, a coupler, and an antenna. The predistorter module is configured to detect existing distortion by comparing the input signal to a feedback signal and generate a correction signal. The predistorter may adaptively adjust its operation to minimize the existing distortion due to GaN power amplifier nonlinear characteristics. The result is that the GaN power amplifier may send a power signal of improved linearity to the antenna. The coupler is configured to sample the amplified signal from the GaN power amplifier to generate the feedback signal. The antenna is configured to transmit the amplified signal.

  • Patent number: 9060820
Abstract: A segmented bone fixation device is provided with an elongate body having a longitudinal axis and having a first state in which at least a portion of the body is flexible and a second state in which the body is generally rigid. Methods of repairing a fracture of a bone are also disclosed. One such method comprises inserting a segmented fixation device into an intramedullary space of the bone to place at least a portion of the fixation device in a flexible state on one side of the fracture, providing rigidity across the fracture, and operating an actuator to deploy at least one gripper to engage an inner surface of the intramedullary space to anchor the fixation device to the bone. Various configurations allow a segmented device body to change shape as it moves from a flexible state to a rigid state.

  • Patent number: 9064801
Abstract: A method of forming a semiconductor structure includes forming a metal gate above a semiconductor substrate and gate spacers adjacent to the metal gate surrounded by an interlevel dielectric (ILD) layer. The gate spacers and the metal gate are recessed until a height of the metal gate is less than a height of the gate spacers. An etch stop liner is deposited above the gate spacers and the metal gate. A gate cap is deposited above the etch stop liner to form a bi-layer gate cap. A contact hole is formed in the ILD layer adjacent to the metal gate, the etch stop liner in the bi-layer gate cap prevents damage of the gate spacers during formation of the contact hole. A conductive material is deposited in the contact hole to form a contact to a source-drain region in the semiconductor substrate.

  • Patent number: 9060773
Abstract: The various embodiments simplify the delivery of an occlusive implant to a hollow anatomical structure, such as a fallopian tube. For example, the delivery devices don't need to be retracted manually to deploy the implant. When the devices are activated, stored energy or a powered drive member induces movement of the various components. The operator need only position the distal ends of the devices at the treatment site and then commence deployment by, for example, flipping a switch or changing the position of an activation button. The present embodiments thus increase the efficacy of occlusion procedures by reducing the likelihood of operator error.

  • Publication number: 20150170191
Abstract: An incentive rewards program that enables an initiating participant entity to dynamically specify incentive rewards point values with respect to defined activities that may be variously performed by other participant entities and by consumers. These entities are nominally associated with vertically aligned business tiers including a retail operator tier. The initiating participant entity is nominally only indirectly associated with retail participant entities associated with the retail operator tier. Retail participant entities record transactions that associate incentive program account identifiers with identified defined activities. These transactions are largely autonomously retrieved, parsed and qualified against the defined activities specified by the initiating participant entity. Corresponding sets of reward points are allocated from an account corresponding to the initiating participant entity to accounts corresponding to the account identifiers recorded in the transaction records.

  • Publication number: 20150166260
Abstract: A mobile support structure (MSS) includes a frame structure for receiving modular silos, a base moveable between transportation and support configurations, and connectors coupling with the silos. A mobile erecting assembly includes a chassis, a lift structure rotatable between transportation and mounting orientations while engaged with a silo, an engagement structure movable between first and second positions while engaged with the silo, and an actuator to move the engagement structure and silo between the first and second positions. The silo is connected to the mobile erector assembly in the transportation orientation, and the mobile erector assembly is then aligned relative to the MSS, such as by engaging an alignment member of the mobile erector assembly with a chassis alignment post of the MSS. The mobile erector assembly is then operated to move the silo to the mounting orientation, and the silo is then coupled to the MSS.
