Patent number: 9320554Abstract: A wrist fusion plate has a proximal portion comprising at least one opening, wherein the proximal portion attaches to the radius by inserting bone screws through the proximal portion opening. A distal plate portion has a plurality of openings and is adapted to be attached to a metacarpal (M) by inserting bone screws through the distal portion attachment openings and into the metacarpal. A central plate portion has at least one attachment opening and is adapted to be attached to a carpal bone by inserting bone screws through the attachment opening. The proximal and distal portions are aligned along a longitudinal axis of the wrist fusion plate. One of the distal portion attachment openings is elongated in a direction perpendicular to the longitudinal axis.Type: GrantFiled: December 13, 2012Date of Patent: April 26, 2016Assignee: Stryker European Holdings I, LLCInventors: Jeffrey A. Patent number: 9107678Abstract: A bone fixation system includes a bone plate and a bone screw having a threaded head. The inner surface of the bone plate is adapted for facing a bone surface on which the plate is mounted. The outer surface of the bone plate faces away from the bone surface. A through opening extends from the inner surface to the outer surface of the plate wherein the through opening comprises a guiding portion and a blocking portion. The guiding portion of the opening is provided with a guiding thread for guiding a thread of a shaft of the bone screw. The blocking portion is provided with a blocking thread for blocking a thread of the head of the bone screw. The blocking thread has a larger diameter than the guiding thread and the guiding portion is located closer to the inner bone plate surface than the blocking portion.Type: GrantFiled: May 27, 2009Date of Patent: August 18, 2015Assignee: Stryker Trauma SAInventors: Beat Mürner, Tobias Bluechel

Publication number: 20120089144Abstract: A targeting system for a bone plate having a bore therethrough with a first thread adjacent an outer surface of the bone plate and a second thread adjacent a bone contacting surface. The first thread has a larger diameter than the second thread. A targeting device has a coupling portion, an outer sleeve with an axial through bore for guiding a boring tool and a bone screw into the bone plate bore. The coupling portion is connected to a first end of the outer sleeve, wherein the coupling portion comprises an exterior threaded portion threadably engageable with the first thread of the bone plate bore and has a through bore having an axis corresponding to the axis of the through bore of the outer sleeve. The outer sleeve and coupling portion comprises two collapsible slits extending parallel to the outer sleeve bore axis dividing the coupling portion in two parts.Type: ApplicationFiled: October 24, 2011Publication date: April 12, 2012Applicant: STRYKER TRAUMA SAInventors: Beat Mürner, Tobias Bluechel

Patent number: 8142434Abstract: A bone plate mounted on a bone. The bone plate has at least one opening for receiving a flush mounted cam. A through-bore passes from a side surface to opposing side surface of the bone plate. The through-bore has a diameter sized to allow insertion of a cable. A portion of the through-bore intersects with a peripheral portion of the opening. A second opening also passes from the side surface to opposing side surface. A cable may be inserted in the second opening, wrapped around the bone and its free end inserted in the through-bore. The cable may be tightened around the bone. The flush mounted cam can be rotated in place. Rotation of the cam results in the cam surface squeezing the cable between concave cam surface and walls of the opening, thereby locking the cable in the tightened state.Type: GrantFiled: October 17, 2007Date of Patent: March 27, 2012Assignee: Stryker Trauma GmbHInventor: Tobias Bluechel
