    Abstract: The invention relates to a method for operating a navigation system. A route is first ascertained from a starting location to a target location using digital map data. At least one intersection point of the route ascertained in this manner is selected, and a database entry linked to said intersection point is read out. Read-out maneuvering information is used in order to ascertain a maneuver to be performed at the selected intersection point and in order to lastly output a navigation instruction corresponding to the ascertained maneuver. The invention additionally relates to a navigation system which is designed to perform the method, to a vehicle comprising the navigation system, and to a method for storing maneuvering information.

    Abstract: The invention relates to a method for displaying lane information in a vehicle. In the method, the present position of the vehicle on a route is captured. A number of existing traffic lanes at the present position in the direction of travel of the vehicle on the route is determined. Furthermore, the lane course of the existing traffic lanes that lies ahead of the vehicle in the direction of travel of the vehicle is determined, wherein a first traffic lane is determined from the lane course, which is a target traffic lane for the vehicle. In a first display region, a first display is generated, which shows a schematic illustration of the existing traffic lanes at the present position of the vehicle, which schematic illustration comprises schematic traffic lanes, wherein the number of the schematic traffic lanes corresponds to the number of the existing traffic lanes, such that an existing traffic lane is assigned a schematic traffic lane in each case.

The method includes detecting one or more driving situation-dependent parameters, wherein at least one driving situation-dependent parameter is based on the geographical position; setting one or more display properties of the map display depending on the one or more detected driving situation-dependent parameters; and reproducing the set map display using a display device. This allows a map display adequate for a situation to be provided to a transportation vehicle operator, the map display clearly and intelligibly reproducing the information relevant to the present driving situation.
