The active substance is conducted to the application unit by the metering unit, and the application unit has a pad with an open-pore mesh structure for receiving and storing the active substance and for applying the active substance onto a moving surface as a film as a function of the degree of saturation and the contact pressure of the pad on the moving surface. Brackets fix the pad in a working position when pushed together and are capable of being pulled apart to exchange the pad. Also, the use of the apparatus for keeping the moving surfaces free from deposits, accumulations or contaminants.

Abstract: A call processing system (10) and method are disclosed. The connection status between a node (40) and a data communications network (20) is monitored. The node (40) is arranged to receive calls over the data communications network. Monitoring is by the call processing system (10). Rather than only performing a call connection when the called node is identified as being available as in conventional systems, if the call processing system (10) determines that the node (40) has been disconnected from the data communications network for a first predetermined period of time, the call processing system (10) is arranged to wait a second predetermined period of time before indicating non-availability of the node. In this way, unavailability determinations are reduced and call connection requests are processed even in situations in which the node (40) has been disconnected during the first period of time.

The intermediate router receives communications over the data communications network from a transmitting communication node for a receiving communication node. The communication includes a unique identifier of the transmitting and receiving communication node. The intermediate router includes a routing database, and is arranged to record the unique identifier of the transmitting communication node against the network address of the transmitting communication node from which the communication was received. The intermediate router is also arranged to route communications to receiving nodes by obtaining the recorded network address associated with the unique identifier of the receiving node and routing the communication to the recorded network address.
