Abstract: A printhead assembly includes an elongate printhead mounted along a spine. A conductive film is provided in electrical contact along the printhead. Power and data from a flexible circuit bearer are conveyed to the conductive film, and hence the printhead, by pressing the flexible circuit bearer against the film. The flexible circuit bearer is forced against the film by an angled member arranged to bias the flexible circuit bearer towards the spine thereby pressing the intermediately located flexible circuit bearer into abutment with the conductive film.

Abstract: A printing cartridge is engageable with a printer and includes a casing. The casing has a print media supply portion in which sheets of print media are stored and an ink supply portion that houses an ink supply for use by the printer. A sheet transport mechanism is arranged in the casing and is engageable with a drive mechanism of the printer to feed the sheets out of a print media exit opening defined by the casing.

Abstract: A printhead assembly includes an elongate support structure that has a base portion and at least a pair of longitudinally extending side wall portions. One side wall portion extends from each edge of one side of the base portion a plurality of carriers is mountable, end-to-end, on the support structure so that each carrier engages a respective wall portion. A printhead segment is mounted on each carrier. Each printhead segment has a plurality of ink supply holes. At least one printed circuit board is mountable on an opposite side of the base portion. A plurality of tape automated bonding films are connected between the printed circuit board and each respective printhead segment.

Abstract: A method of assembling an inkjet printhead commences with mounting a plurality of printheads on a plurality of printhead segment carriers. The printheads are then tested for correct operation and any defective printheads are replaced and the replaced printheads are tested. Once correct operation for all printheads on a carrier is confirmed, the printhead carrier is secured in place in a slot of an elongate member that receives an array of printhead carriers.

Abstract: A contact sensing device is provided. The sensing device comprises a housing having a nib and a position sensor mounted in the housing. The position sensor generates position data when the nib is positioned in contact with a surface having coded data disposed thereon, the coded data being indicative of a plurality of locations within the region and the position data being indicative of the position of the nib relative to the region. The position sensor comprises imaging optics, an image sensor, and a processor.

Abstract: A print media and ink supply cartridge includes a base molding and a cover molding between which there is located a deformable film. Ink is stored in a deformable volume between the deformable film and the cover molding. A number of ink outlet nozzles, which communicate with the deformable volume are formed into the cover molding whereas air inlets are formed into the base molding. Pierceable seals cover the ink nozzles and are pierced upon coupling of the cartridge to a printer. The cartridge is arranged so that the nozzles are located clear of the cartridge's print media housing in order that the nozzles are readily accessible to the printer.

Abstract: A printer includes a housing containing a pagewidth printhead. A keyboard to operate the computer is integrated with the housing. The printer is operated by a controller PCB located within the housing that is responsive to commands from the computer. Integration of the keyboard with the housing assists in reducing the number of computer peripherals that are usually required which is beneficial where working space is limited.

Abstract: A cellular phone includes a print processor that controls an integrated print media transport assembly and printhead. The print processor communicates with a mobile phone processor by means of a user-interface integrated circuit. An imaging device is incorporated into the cellular phone and mounted in a manner that allows its position to be adjusted. The imaging device provides signals to the print processor to facilitate printing of captured images.

Abstract: An ink cartridge for a compact printer module comprises a stationary printhead, an ink reservoir, a motive means and an image storing means, all housed within an elongate body. The motive means carries a printable media past the printhead which prints a full width image in a single pass. A power supply is also preferably housed within the elongate body. Abstract: A computer keyboard to control a remote computer includes a housing that contains a printer assembly. The printer assembly includes a printhead support having a number of ink galleries and a pagewidth printhead supported by the printhead support and supplied by the ink galleries. A port to receive an ink cartridge is formed in the housing and communicates with the ink galleries in order to replenish them. In a preferred embodiment the pagewidth printhead comprises a multi-color printhead and each of the ink galleries is dedicated to store different color inks.

Abstract: A compact desktop computer system is provided that has a small footprint due to integration of a pagewidth printer into the computer system's keyboard. A data bus interconnects the keyboard and conveys commands from the keyboard to a computer, and signals from the computer to the integrated printer. The keyboard is fitted with a port to receive an ink cartridge that is in fluid communication with the pagewidth printer.

Abstract: A printer includes a housing having an upper side bearing a computer keyboard comprised of a plurality of keypads. The keypads are arranged to interact with a keyboard circuit board located within the housing. A print media entry slot is formed through a first side of the housing and a print media ejection slot through a second opposite side. A print media transport assembly is located between the keyboard circuit board and an underside of the housing. The transport assembly operates to draw print media through the entry slot into the printer during use. Abstract: A pen that includes a marking device for marking a visible path onto a first surface. The marking device is electronically controllable to change a value of an attribute of the path such as color, line width, texture, or line spacing. A position sensing device or motion sensing device is connected to the marking device using a controller. An optical sensing device is also connected to the controller for sensing an attribute of a second surface. The controller is operable to change the value of the attribute of the path on the first surface so as to replicate the attribute of the second surface.
