Abstract: A system and method of using a portable network device to record recording data associated to a transaction made. Transaction data obtained from a transaction, which may be executed with a portable network device, is utilized to categorize the transaction. In one aspect, the transaction may be categorized based on one or more parameters associated with the transaction. In one aspect, a transaction may be conducted with the portable network device and categorized based on a location of the portable network device at the time the transaction was conducted.

Abstract: Disclosed is a portable mobile communications device that can view a scrambled alternate version of a mobile television program broadcast by a mobile television service provider. The portable mobile communications device includes a mobile television receiver capable of receiving broadcasts from a mobile television service provider. A processor in the portable mobile communications device executes an alternate broadcast application that is communicable with the mobile television service provider. The portable mobile communications device and the mobile television service provider exchange PIN code data that when verified will cause the portable mobile communications device to receive a decode algorithm that can descramble the scrambled alternate version of a mobile television program broadcast by a mobile television service provider.

Abstract: A method of playing a game among portable mobile communications devices over a network wherein the game is hosted on a mobile game server that is communicable with the portable mobile communications devices via a mobile phone network and a mobile broadcast network is presented. The portable mobile communications devices receive control data signals from the mobile game server using a lower bandwidth cellular data services connection. The received control data signals contain a mobile game server control signal requesting input from the portable mobile communications device. The portable mobile communications device also sends control data signals to the mobile game server using the cellular data services connection. The sent control data signals contain portable mobile communications device player input sent from the portable mobile communications device to the mobile game server in response to the mobile game server requests.

Abstract: A portable mobile communications device for altering the destination of mobile television programs broadcast by a mobile television service provider includes a mobile television device, a processor running a mobile television redirect application communicable with the mobile television service provider, and a user interface for controlling the mobile television device and the mobile television redirect application such that mobile television broadcast programs can be redirected to an alternate device at higher definitions in response to input received by the user interface and sent to the mobile television service provider. The alternate device can include a home media server or a computer coupled to and communicable with the mobile television service provider via the Internet.

Abstract: A portable mobile communications device for controlling the destination of mobile TV programs broadcast by a mobile TV service provider includes a mobile TV device, a processor running a mobile TV redirect application communicable with the mobile TV service provider, and a user interface for controlling the mobile TV device and the mobile TV redirect application such that mobile TV broadcast programs can be simultaneously redirected to an external device in response to input received by the user interface and sent to the mobile TV service provider. The external device can include a home media server or a computer coupled to and communicable with the mobile TV service provider via the Internet.

Abstract: Presented is a method of displaying a newly requested channel in a mobile TV device prior to retuning the mobile TV device to the newly selected channel. The mobile TV device demodulator and tuner are cycled on for a short period of time at regular intervals to conserve battery power. Data is buffered from multiple channels in a buffer within the mobile TV device while the demodulator is cycled on. The mobile TV device displays data from one of the buffered channels upon a request to switch to the channel prior to retuning the mobile TV device to the newly selected channel. The mobile TV device is then retuned to the newly selected channel at the next instance the demodulator and tuner are cycled on.

Abstract: Video distribution methods include providing a primary video data stream having a first image size and formatted in a first video display format. A transmission data stream is formed having a plurality of blocks of data including at least first and second data fields. The first data field includes a secondary video data stream extracted from the primary video data stream and is formatted for display in a second video format. The second data field includes supplemental data extracted from the primary video data stream and configured to provide, when combined with the data of the first data field, a tertiary video data stream formatted for display in a third video format. The transmission data stream is multicasted from a wireless communication transmitter to a plurality of wireless communication terminals. Wireless communication terminals and systems are also disclosed.
