  • Patent number: 9567986
Abstract: A hydraulic system associated with an engine may include a hydraulic pump, a hydraulic tank, a hydraulic starter and a second pump. The hydraulic system may include a relief valve that allows hydraulic fluid to pass through the relief valve when pressure at the relief valve meets a predetermined pressure. As well, the hydraulic system may include a first solenoid valve and a second solenoid valve. The first solenoid valve may be coupled between the hydraulic pump and the second pump to thereby control fluid flow to the second pump. Additionally, the second solenoid valve may be coupled between the hydraulic pump and the hydraulic starter to thereby control fluid flow to the hydraulic starter.

  • Publication number: 20150354514
Abstract: A fuel supply system for an engine is disclosed. The fuel supply system includes a fuel pump defining a fuel chamber and a hydraulic chamber. The fuel chamber is in fluid communication with a fuel source and the hydraulic chamber is in fluid communication with a hydraulic pump that supplies a pressurized hydraulic fluid. In a suction stroke of a fuel piston in the fuel chamber, a valve system provides a first portion of hydraulic fluid to hydraulic chamber to drive the fuel piston in a first direction and provides a second portion of hydraulic fluid to the accumulator. In a compression stroke, the valve system provides hydraulic fluid to hydraulic chamber to drive the fuel piston in a second direction. Further, the accumulator releases the stored fluid to hydraulic chamber to drive the fuel piston in the second direction.

  • Publication number: 20140172269
Abstract: A control strategy for a cryogenic LNG piston pump and method of operation same are disclosed. The piston pump may employ a bifurcated control strategy based on the operating speed of an engine to which the pump is providing fuel. More specifically, at engine idle speed, the control strategy may employ a first control strategy split wherein a compression stage and a suction stage of the pump are conducted at a first ratio. At engine rated speed, the control strategy may employ a second split wherein the compression stage and suction stage are conducted at a second ration, wherein the second ratio is different from the first ratio.
