  • Publication number: 20050040979
Abstract: The present invention is directed to a sigma-delta digital to analog converted (DAC) including a digital-sigma delta modulator, a decimation filter, and a multi-bit DAC. The digital sigma-delta modulator receives a digital input signal and produces a quantized digital signal therefrom. The decimation filter receives the quantized digital signal and produces a decimated digital signal therefrom. The multi-bit DAC receives the decimated digital signal and produces an analog output signal therefrom. The analog output signal is representative of the digital input signal.

  • Publication number: 20050030212
Abstract: Methods and systems for improved feedback processing in delta-sigma modulators, including single bit and multi-bit delta-sigma modulators, continuous-time and discrete-time delta-sigma modulators, and digital and/or analog feedback loops. One or more processes are performed in a pipeline having a higher throughput rate than a throughput rate of a delta-sigma modulator. Any of a variety of processes and combinations of processes can be performed in the pipeline including, without limitation, quantization, digital signal processing, and/or feedback digital-to-analog conversion.

  • Publication number: 20040160245
Abstract: A low noise transconductance cell includes a resistor and a differential circuit pair having two equivalent half-circuits. Each half-circuit includes a feedback loop coupled to the resistor. The feedback loop includes an input transistor coupled to an inverting gain stage. The inverting gain stage is coupled to an output transistor which in turn is coupled to the input transistor and the resistor. In a low noise transconductance cell, a bias current source is coupled to the center of series connected resistors. In a high swing transconductance cell, a first bias current source is coupled to the left terminal of a resistance stage and a second bias current source is coupled to the right terminal of the resistance stage. The resistance stage can include a single resistor or a plurality of resistors.

  • Patent number: 6674051
Abstract: A cooking appliance includes a grilling grate supported directly above at least one heating element and situated adjacent to a downdraft grill. The grilling grate includes structure to effectively shield the heating element(s) from an air flow generated during operation of the downdraft system. More specifically, the grilling grate includes a grilling surface on an upper side, and a plurality of conductive heat members on a lower side. The conductive heat members have side portions which extend about the heating element in order to cloak the heating element from the effects of the airflow produced by the downdraft system thereby providing a more efficient means of energy transfer to the grilling surface.

  • Patent number: 6455818
Abstract: A filtering system for a downdraft cooking appliance includes a filter assembly arranged directly below an air grill leading to a venting plenum. The filter assembly includes a liner which supports a filter element and is removably positioned inside the plenum. The filter element can be arranged inside the liner, attached thereto or insert molded into the liner material. The liner is preferably suspended from the air grill so as to be readily removable in unison with the grill for inspection, cleaning or replacement. In a preferred embodiment, the liner is formed with opposing, outwardly projecting flanges which slide into mating channels formed into the underside of the grill. With this arrangement, exposure of the wall surfaces of the plenum to the cooking byproducts is minimized, thereby greatly reducing any necessary cleaning of these surfaces.

  • Publication number: 20020057214
Abstract: Methods and systems for applying digital dither includes methods and systems for applying digital dither in data converters, such as, for example, delta-sigma data converters. In an embodiment, an analog signal from a first path of a delta-sigma modulator is quantized to an m-bit digital signal and an n-bit dithered digital feedback signal is generated from at least a portion of the m-bit digital signal. The n-bit dithered digital feedback signal is converted to an analog feedback signal and fed back to a second path of the delta-sigma modulator. In an embodiment, the n-bit dithered digital feedback signal is generated by selecting one of a plurality of sets of n-bits from the m-bit digital signal depending upon a state of a dither control signal. The dither control signal can alternate between a plurality of states or pseudo-randomly switch between a plurality of states.

  • Patent number: 6173708
Abstract: A gas burner mounting assembly includes a gas injector having a main body portion positioned between a chassis member of a gas cooking appliance and a ceramic based cooktop of the appliance. The gas injector also includes an upper body portion which extends through an aperture formed in the cooktop. A burner retention bracket is interposed between the main body portion of the gas injector and an underside of the cooktop. A resilient support preferably acts between the gas injector and the cooktop, although no rigid attachment is made between these elements. The gas injector is mechanically, fixedly secured to the cooktop in order to allow the gas injector to flex with the cooktop.

  • Patent number: 5631598
Abstract: A low drop-out voltage regulator is compensated by providing a compensation capacitor across an output terminal of the regulator and an output lead of an input stage which compares a reference voltage and a voltage derived from a regulated output signal at the output terminal. The output from the input stage is inverted without gain before being provided to an output stage. This inversion allows Miller compensation with the compensation capacitor.
