  • Patent number: 11575605
Abstract: Techniques are described to automatically activate and deactivate standby backup paths in response to changing bandwidth requirements in an adaptive private network (APN). The APN includes one or more regular active wide area network (WAN) links in an active mode and an on-demand WAN link in a standby mode. The on-demand WAN link is activated to supplement the conduit bandwidth when an available bandwidth of the conduit falls below a pre-specified trigger bandwidth threshold and the conduit bandwidth usage exceeds a usage threshold of a bandwidth of the conduit that is being supplied by the active paths (BWc). The on-demand WAN link is deactivated to standby mode when an available bandwidth of the conduit is above the pre-specified trigger bandwidth threshold and the conduit bandwidth usage drops below the usage threshold of BWc techniques for adaptive and active bandwidth testing of WAN links in an APN are also described.

  • Patent number: 11559970
Abstract: Thin-film devices, for example electrochromic devices for windows, and methods of manufacturing are described. Particular focus is given to methods of patterning optical devices. Various edge deletion and isolation scribes are performed, for example, to ensure the optical device has appropriate isolation from any edge defects. Methods described herein apply to any thin-film device having one or more material layers sandwiched between two thin film electrical conductor layers. The described methods create novel optical device configurations.

  • Patent number: 11532066
Abstract: A graphics pipeline reduces the number of tessellation factors written to and read from a graphics memory. A hull shader stage of the graphics pipeline detects whether at least a threshold percentage of the tessellation factors for a thread group of patches are the same and, in some embodiments, whether at least the threshold percentage of the tessellation factors for a thread group of patches have a same value that either indicates that the plurality of patches are to be culled or that the plurality of patches are to be passed to a tessellator stage of the graphics pipeline.

  • Patent number: 11527033
Abstract: A graphics pipeline includes a tessellator stage having a sub-patch distributor and a plurality of tessellators. The sub-patch distributor divides an input patch into a plurality of sub-primitive groups, with the primitive group limit governing the maximum permissible size for a given group of sub-primitives to be assigned to a tessellator. The sub-patch distributor recursively identifies a plurality of regions of the input patch, with the size and number of primitives of each region based on the specified primitive group limit. The sub-patch distributor assigns different regions to different sub-patch groups and distributes the sub-patch groups among the plurality of tessellators.

  • Patent number: 11502918
Abstract: System and techniques are described which apply a method for automatic database schema migration. An initial database is installed, according to rules that define tables of data, in an adaptive private network (APN) having a centralized management system including a network control node (NCN) coupled through the APN to a plurality of client nodes, wherein the NCN provides timing and control to the client nodes. An update to the initial database is received, wherein the initial database includes a first table of data stored in a first set of columns and the updated database includes a modified first table having a second set of columns that has a different number of columns as compared to the first table is automatically detected. One or more columns from the second set of columns that are different than the first set of columns are updated for data content.

  • Patent number: 11489784
Abstract: Systems and techniques are described for a path maximum transmission unit (MTU) discovery method that allows the sender of IP packets to discover the MTU of packets that it is sending over a conduit to a given destination. The MTU is the largest packet that can be sent through the network along a path without requiring fragmentation. The path MTU discovery method actively probes each sending path of each conduit with fragmentation enabled to determine a current MTU and accordingly increase or decrease the conduit MTU. The path MTU discovery process is resilient to errors and supports retransmission if packets are lost in the discovery process. The path MTU discovery process is dynamically adjusted at a periodic rate to adjust to varying network conditions.

  • Patent number: 11462017
Abstract: A system for identifying and timing an athlete during a timed sporting event. The athlete is timed using image recognition technology in which one or more images of the athlete taken during the sporting event by a camera (106a, 106b, or 106c) is time-stamped to generate a finish time for the athlete. The athlete is identified by comparing one of the images taken during the sporting event with a profile image of the athlete.

  • Patent number: 11379941
Abstract: Improvements in the graphics processing pipeline are disclosed. More specifically, a new primitive shader stage performs tasks of the vertex shader stage or a domain shader stage if tessellation is enabled, a geometry shader if enabled, and a fixed function primitive assembler. The primitive shader stage is compiled by a driver from user-provided vertex or domain shader code, geometry shader code, and from code that performs functions of the primitive assembler. Moving tasks of the fixed function primitive assembler to a primitive shader that executes in programmable hardware provides many benefits, such as removal of a fixed function crossbar, removal of dedicated parameter and position buffers that are unusable in general compute mode, and other benefits.
