  • Patent number: 11438239
Abstract: A system provides for tail-based sampling of span data at the trace level. The system may include a circuitry, such as one or more servers, that execute applications, agents, and a trace manager. The agents generate span data of operations performed by the applications. The trace manager receives the span data from the agents, and groups the operations defined by the span data into traces. The trace manager determines a selected subset of the traces for span data sampling and an unselected subset of the traces excluded from the span data sampling by comparing one or more trace characteristics of the traces with one or more trace criteria. The trace manager discards unselected span data of the unselected subset of the traces and provide selected span data of the selected subset of the traces to a monitoring system via a network.

  • Patent number: 10289520
Abstract: A system performs discovery and instrumentation of processes of an application based on process performance. The system includes one or more processors configured to: determine a duration score for a process indicating a relationship between a duration time for the process and a transaction time for a transaction including the process; determine an instrumentation threshold value; determine whether the duration score satisfies the instrumentation threshold value; and in response to determining that the duration score satisfies the instrumentation threshold value, instrument a second process invoked by the process to receive a second duration time for the second process when execution of the second process is detected in a second transaction trace of a second transaction. In some embodiments, the system prunes instrumented processes that primarily invoke subprocesses, and are thus unimportant for performance monitoring.

  • Patent number: 6744810
Abstract: A signal repeater for use between a serial data line and a peripheral device is disclosed. The signal repeater receives bus signals on the serial data line at a first voltage and translates the bus signal into a device signal of a second voltage. Also, the signal repeater is operative to receives device signals from the device at the second voltage and translates the device signal into a bus signal at the first voltage.

  • Patent number: 4843999
Abstract: A boat seat which effectively positions a person for paddling a boat such as a canoe or kayak includes an upper platform for supporting the posterior of the person and a lower platform for supporting the knees and shins of the person. The upper platform near its rear end is pivotally connected between the two frames on a substantially radial component of each frame near a rear pivot end thereof. The boat seat includes a device for adjustably stopping the downward pivotal movement of the upper platform front end at a position selected from a plurality of positions along a vertical component of each frame. The lower platform includes a back end which can rest on the boat floor. A front end of the lower platform is adjustably connected between two substantially horizontal brackets which are each affixed to one side in spaced opposition to each other.
