  • Patent number: 9683889
Abstract: A photodiode (2) and a further photodiode (3) are arranged in a substrate (1) at or near a main surface (10). The photodiodes are formed and arranged in such a manner that in case of incident ultraviolet radiation (26) the electric signal from the photodiode (2) is larger than the further electric signal from the further photodiode (3). In particular, the first photodiode may be more sensitive to ultraviolet radiation than the further photodiode. The electric signal from the photodiode is attenuated by the further electric signal and thus yields an electric signal primarily measuring the incident ultraviolet radiation. The attenuation of the electric signal from the first photodiode may be achieved internally using an integrated circuit (25) or externally using a separate device.

  • Publication number: 20120139739
Abstract: A friction-flow piercing apparatus for piercing very deep and fine holes is described, that relies on a novel support method for the piercing means. An apparatus for monitoring during the piercing process to determine the electrical properties gradient of the substrate is further described, particularly for meltable dielectric such as plastic industrial equipment. A permanently installed piercing means may function as a permanent test site.

  • Patent number: 7334633
Abstract: A connector is provided for selectively connecting or disconnecting a stripper rubber to or from drilling head equipment such as a bearing assembly. A generally cylindrical adapter connected to the equipment defines a primary bore accommodate a down hole tubular. One or more cam pin bores, adapted to house one or more cam pins, are positioned radially around the adapter substantially parallel to the primary bore. One or more cam lock bores adapted to house one or more at least partially rotatable cam locks, are offset from the pin cam bores such that each cam pin bore partially intersects a corresponding cam lock bore to form an apertaure through which the cam lock engages the cam pin. One or more cam pins are connected to the stripper rubber; and one or more at least partially rotatable cam locks house in the cam lock bores of the adapter optionally engage or disengage the pin cams to respectively connect or disconnect the stripper rubber to or from the equipment.

  • Publication number: 20060080808
Abstract: A method of relating elastic cord to a pre-existing linear structure such as a wire, tube or non-elastic cordage in order to deform said structure and impart elastic handling properties of a common curly cord. The resulting assembly is a foreshortened version of the pre-existing length that is axially elastic and therefore easier to handle, store and use. The preferred method involves creating attachments between one or more stretched elastic cords and a linear structure at close intervals along the structure such that when the elastic is allowed to retract, it pulls the subject structure into a series of substantially uniform loops or bends depending on the shape of stiffness of the original structure. Methods of attachment between the linear structure and the elastic may vary, but the preferred embodiment would be a series of slipknots.

  • Patent number: 7012255
Abstract: A method for measuring a concentration of a hydroperoxide of an alkylaromatic hydrocarbon in a process stream comprises immersing a probe into the process stream; wherein the probe is coupled to a spectrometer; collecting absorption data with the spectrometer at a wavelength of 13,000 cm?1 to 4,000 cm?1; and calculating a concentration of the hydroperoxide of the alkylaromatic hydrocarbon in the process stream. In another embodiment, samples are withdrawn from the process stream and analyzed spectrometrically to determine the concentration of the hydroperoxide of the alkylaromatic hydrocarbon in the sample.

  • Publication number: 20050274557
Abstract: A suspension system having a frame, a cab having a front portion pivotally mounted to the frame and at least one actuator mounted between a rear portion of the cab and the frame. A position sensor is mounted adjacent the rear portion of the cab for generating a first signal indicating a position of the cab relative to the frame, an accelerometer is mounted to the frame for generating a second signal indicating an acceleration of the frame relative to gravity and an electronic control receives the first and second signals from the position sensor and the accelerometer and generates a control signal for controlling the actuator in response to the first and second signals.

  • Patent number: 6120218
Abstract: A rotary cutting tool having a mounting portion with a plurality of mounting sections, each having a radially aligned pocket to receive a cutting insert. There is a positioning and actuating assembly by which a related wedge block can be positioned in its related pocket in wedging engagement with its cutter insert. The side walls of each pocket converge in a radially outward direction so that centrifugal force of the rotating causes the wedge blocks and the cutters to come into a firmer wedging engagement. The positioning and holding assembly can be moved from its retaining position to permit individual cutting inserts to be moved or replaced. A center bolt assembly moves a central portion of the positioning and holding assembly vertically so as to cause retaining arms to move into and out of retaining engagement with related wedge blocks.
