  • Publication number: 20240076020
Abstract: A drilling system configured to install a tap assembly into a ship skin is disclosed. The drilling system comprises a remotely-operated underwater vehicle and a drilling assembly configured to be operated by the remotely-operated underwater vehicle. The drilling assembly comprises a frame comprising an attachment element configured to hold the drilling assembly to a surface of the ship skin. The drilling assembly further comprises a drill actuation system comprising a linear actuator attached to the frame and a rotary actuator, wherein an actuation of the linear actuator is configured to move the rotary actuator relative to the frame to install the tap assembly into the ship skin by driving the tap assembly with the rotary actuator and the linear actuator.

  • Patent number: 6527113
Abstract: A waterproof fly fishing fly box is disclosed including a central base member, a top cover and a bottom cover. The top and bottom covers affix to the central base member so that, when closed, the top cover and central base member define a first internal environment therebetween. Similarly, when the bottom cover is closed, the bottom cover and central base member define a second internal environment. The fly fishing fly box further includes a first and second closed cell foam layers affixed to and covering substantially all of a top surface and bottom surface, respectively, of the central base member. The first and second foam layers serve to fix the flies within the first and second internal environments, and to ensure a tight seal of the first and second internal environments against water from the surrounding environment.

  • Publication number: 20020029508
Abstract: A fly fishing net is disclosed including an integrally formed handle and frame. The frame includes an interior flange in which holes are formed for receiving a mesh netting. As there are no holes drilled through the frame, the frame is not weakened by a loss of material, and no water enters into the frame. Thus, the life of the net is prolonged relative to conventional nets. The frame and handle are preferably formed of a carbon fiber material. In addition to facilitating the formation of the flange and holes therein, forming the frame of carbon fiber allows the net to be custom shaped as desired. Additionally, in comparison to convention wooden nets, a carbon fiber net is significantly lighter.
