  • Publication number: 20150172731
Abstract: Methods and apparatus for providing alternate content in a network, such as in the instance where content is restricted. In one embodiment, a server within the network assigns a location identifier to a plurality of client devices and associates the identifier to a location value. The location value is used to register a certain set of the client devices to a given service area. The server in one variant creates one or more lists associating the client devices to location values, and location values to primary and alternate content. The information is published and accessible to other network components. The server receives a request for content from the client device and either references the list or communicates with another server to determine appropriate content to send. Based on the determination, the server transmits the appropriate content to the requesting device.

  • Publication number: 20070074261
Abstract: A system for validating two-way continuity of a customer premises equipment (CPE) unit in a hybrid fiber coax (HFC) cable network. A two-way client uses a two-way query interface to acquire information indicative of the two-way operational status of a subscriber CPE units from a two-way validation server and to display the information graphically.

  • Publication number: 20070050836
Abstract: An STB analysis system comprises an STB checker client and an STB analysis server. The STB checker client comprises an STB query interface to communicate with the STB analysis server to acquire information indicative of the operational status of a STB and to display the information graphically. A user requests data relating to a particular STB by entering the MAC address of an STB into a query field. The STB checker client interacts with an STB analysis server to acquire information relating to the subscriber associated with the STB MAC address, the services authorized for the STB, and data indicative of the status and performance of the STB. In addition, the STB analysis server interacts with the STB operating system to retrieve diagnostic data from the STB logs. The STB checker client further is adapted to permit remotely resetting the STB regardless of its current status.

  • Publication number: 20070050826
Abstract: A system and method for analyzing video-on-demand (VOD) transaction errors in a hybrid fiber coax (HFC) cable network. Raw XOD transaction error data is acquired from an XOD server. XOD-related subscriber information is acquired from a subscriber datastore. VOD transaction data is acquired from a VOD server. A correlator acquires the raw XOD transaction error, determines from the XOD-related subscriber information that a subscriber is not entitled to receive XOD service, creates filtered XOD transaction error data by removing from the raw XOD transaction error data XOD transaction errors associated with the subscriber, and correlates a filtered XOD transaction error with VOD transaction data to identify a network path of the filtered XOD transaction error. A result processor reviews the correlated transaction error data to determine whether correlated transaction error data entries are related by a common cause.

  • Publication number: 20070047449
Abstract: A modem checker diagnostic toolkit comprises a modem checker client and a modem analysis server. The modem checker client comprises a modem query interface to communicate with the modem analysis server to acquire information indicative of the operational status of a modem and to display the information graphically. A user requests data relating to a particular modem by entering the MAC address of the modem into a query field. The modem checker client interacts with the modem analysis server to acquire information relating to the subscriber associated with the modem MAC address, the services authorized for the modem, and data indicative of the status and performance of the modem. In addition, the modem analysis server interacts with the modem operating system to retrieve modem performance data from modem logs. The modem checker client further provides a link that directs the modem analysis server for remotely resetting the modem regardless of its current status.

  • Publication number: 20070050818
Abstract: A system and method for programming a digital video recorder (DVR) over a scheduling network. Program schedule information is provided to a user of a DVR via the scheduling network. A program selection is received from the scheduling client associated with a subscriber via the scheduling network. State information indicative of a state of a program provisioning system is used to determine whether the program selection is deliverable to the DVR via the program provisioning system. If the program selection is deliverable to the DVR via the program provisioning system, then the program is scheduled for recording by the DVR. The subscriber is notified if the program selection is deliverable or undeliverable.
