Patent number: 7387655Abstract: An air filtration unit for use in a work environment includes a housing disposed with an air filtration system and light source. The housing includes a handle and corner caps to prevent damage and provide stability. The air filtration system draws air into the housing, via a blower, through a first and second inlet gate, the air is at least partially filtered by a first and second filter assembly, which provide a two stage filtering, and then the at least partially filtered air is blown through an exhaust conduit back out into the work environment.Type: GrantFiled: May 26, 2006Date of Patent: June 17, 2008Assignee: Black & Decker Inc.Inventors: Todd Chipner, Mark A. Etter, Angela D. Shelton, Leslie D. Gist, John C. Smith, Charles Chen

Publication number: 20060245834Abstract: Accordingly, a work tool is provided that features a table that can be rotated about all three axes of a traditional coordinate system. The work tool features a housing that contains a tool that is translatable along an axis to make contact with a workpiece. A table for mounting the workpiece is also connected to the housing. The table is rotatable about the axis along which the tool is translated to make contact with the workpiece. The table is also rotatable about the two other axes perpendicular to the axis that the tool moves along. Three separate locks are provided, each to maintain the table stationary about one of the three axes. The three axes are each controlled by a handle attached to the locking mechanisms.Type: ApplicationFiled: April 28, 2005Publication date: November 2, 2006Inventors: Carlton Lay, Kenneth Brazell, Bernhard Nortmann, Jeanne White, Todd Chipner, Huabo Li

Publication number: 20060144207Abstract: A work tool is provided with a table that may rotate with a rotation mechanism. The rotation mechanism rotates the table about an axis through a point where the moving saw blade passes though the table and in parallel to the direction that a workpiece is presented to the moving saw blade. The rotation mechanism features a set of bevel gears with non-parallel axes, a pinion gear rotationally coupled to an output bevel gear, the pinion gear rides within a curved rack slot on the table. The work tool is also provided with structure to allow the table to rotate but otherwise hold the table stable with respect to the tool housing.Type: ApplicationFiled: January 4, 2005Publication date: July 6, 2006Inventors: Bernhard Nortmann, Todd Chipner, Huabo Li

Publication number: 20060112581Abstract: A power tool comprises a spindle, a slide, and an alignment guide. The spindle is attached to the power tool and operably supported relative to a work piece wherein the spindle defines an axis of operation for the power tool. The slide is moveably attached to the power tool. The alignment guide is secured to the slide and has a first laser and a second laser. The first laser projects a first laser beam in a first plane and the second laser projects a second laser in a second plane. The first plane and the second plane intersect along the axis of operation.Type: ApplicationFiled: December 1, 2004Publication date: June 1, 2006Inventors: Bernhard Nortmann, Todd Chipner, Huabo Li
