Abstract: A system and method of extending the life of a battery. The system may include a display device and a transceiver. The transceiver may include the battery. The transceiver may be configured to perform a battery level reading function to determine a battery level of the battery. The transceiver may be configured to time performance of the battery level reading function such that it does not occur at the same time as a period of high current demand on the battery. The transceiver may be capable of executing concurrently two or more of the functions, and the transceiver may be configured to avoid executing concurrently one or more of: (a) a number of functions greater than a maximum number of functions; (b) functions including one or more high current demand functions; and (c) two or more functions that would have a combined current demand higher than a current demand threshold.
