Patent number: 12245840Abstract: A portable, modular handheld imaging system is disclosed. The modular system comprises a first housing portion and a second housing portion. The first housing portion includes at least one excitation light source. A first filter is configured to detect and permit passage of selected optical signals responsive to illumination with the excitation light to a first image sensor. A second filter is configured to detect and permit passage of selected optical signals responsive to illumination of the target surface with white light to a second image sensor. The second housing portion is configured to releasably receive the first housing portion. The second housing portion includes a display and a processor configured to receive the detected fluorescent and white light optical signals and to output a representation of the target surface to the display based on the detected optical signals.Type: GrantFiled: January 17, 2020Date of Patent: March 11, 2025Assignee: MolecuLight Inc.Inventors: Ralph S. Publication number: 20230394660Abstract: Given a specific imaging device and systems further described herein, wound characteristics of a wound fluoresce with a unique spectral signature when subjected to excitation light with a known wavelength or range of wavelengths. Images captured therefrom are subject to analyses by one or more analysis modules trained using one or more of reflectance images and/or data, fluorescence images and/or data, RGB image data, RGB color data, and wound characteristics data. Wound sizes, boundaries, bacterial presence, and other characteristics may be quantified and graphically represented as an overlay on the original wound image along with documentation related to the wound. Reflectance, fluorescent, and thermal images of the wound may be acquired, subject to analyses with the trained analysis modules, and two or more of the analyzed images may be overlaid to form a composite image upon which areas of interest from each image is highlighted or otherwise indicated.Type: ApplicationFiled: August 14, 2023Publication date: December 7, 2023Applicant: MOLECULIGHT INC.Inventors: Ralph DaCOSTA, Todd E. MEANEY, Todd DAYNES, Garrett R. VERMEY, Liis TEENE, Danielle C. DUNHAM, Kamyar ABHARI, Steven McFADDEN

Patent number: 11727560Abstract: Given a specific imaging device and systems further described herein, wound characteristics of a wound fluoresce with a unique spectral signature when subjected to excitation light with a known wavelength or range of wavelengths. Images captured therefrom are subject to analyses of pixels thereof, with a plurality of training images having known wound sizes and characteristics marked-up thereon being used to generate training data, which is subsequently used to identify wound characteristics from test images in real time. Wound sizes, boundaries, bacterial presence, and other characteristics may be quantified and graphically represented as an overlay on the original wound image along with documentation related to the wound.Type: GrantFiled: January 15, 2019Date of Patent: August 15, 2023Inventors: Ralph DaCosta, Todd E. Meaney, Todd Daynes, Garrett R. Vermey, Liis Teene, Danielle C. Dunham, Kamyar Abhari, Steven McFadden

Publication number: 20220248944Abstract: An endoscopic imaging device is disclosed. The device includes a body portion configured to be held in a user's hand and an endoscope portion configured to direct light onto a target. At least one excitation light source is configured to excite autofluorescence emissions of tissue cells and fluorescence emissions of induced porphyrins in tissue cells of the target. A white light source is configured to illuminate the surgical margin during white light imaging of the target. The device also includes an imaging sensor and a first optical filter configured to filter optical signals emitted by the target responsive to illumination with excitation light and permit passage of autofluorescence emissions of tissue cells and fluorescence emissions of the induced porphyrins in tissue cells to the imaging sensor.Type: ApplicationFiled: January 17, 2020Publication date: August 11, 2022Applicants: University Health Network, SBI ALAPHARMA CANADA INC.Inventors: Ralph S. DACOSTA, Kathryn OTTOLINO-PERRY, Christopher GIBSON, Nayana Thalanki ANANTHA, Simon TREADWELL, Todd DAYNES, Todd MEANEY, Garrett VERMEY, Carl ANNIS

Patent number: 5463219Abstract: A mass analyzer system uses a simultaneous mode electron multiplier detector which outputs both a pulse count and an analog signal. Depending on the ion flux intensity, the signals define a pulse count only region in which the pulse count only signal is valid, an overlap region in which both the pulse count and analog signals are valid, an analog signal only region in which only the analog signal is valid, and a neither analog nor pulse region in which neither signal is valid. The system produces a separate flag for each region. When a mass spectrum is scanned, for each dwell the pulse count and analog data are recorded together with their associated flag and are placed in memory. The signals, with the flags, can then be used to produce a mass spectrum using the pulse count only signal, the analog only signal, or both.Type: GrantFiled: December 7, 1994Date of Patent: October 31, 1995Assignee: MDS Health Group LimitedInventors: Peter Buckley, Lisa Cousins, Todd Daynes, Val Gretxhev, Drake Hirasawa, Graham Leith
