Patent number: 8262373Abstract: A compressor comprising a shell, a compression mechanism disposed within the shell, a drive shaft for operating the compression mechanism, and a motor for driving the drive shaft. A terminal is secured to the shell for delivering electric current to at least one of the compression mechanism and the motor. A terminal block is engaged with the terminal, and a wire carries the electric current from the terminal and the terminal block. A wire retainer located relative to the compression mechanism supports the wire in a predetermined orientation within the shell.Type: GrantFiled: February 4, 2009Date of Patent: September 11, 2012Assignee: Emerson Climate Technologies, Inc.Inventors: Charles E. Reynolds, Todd E. Tesch

Patent number: 7695005Abstract: A method and apparatus for providing a side airbag device for use in a vehicle, comprising: an inflatable cushion for deployment from an unexpanded state to an expanded state. The inflatable cushion is positioned behind a headliner of the vehicle in an un-inflated state and the inflatable cushion is configured to traverse a side of the vehicle when it is inflated. The inflatable cushion also comprising a deploying edge that defines a portion of a periphery of the inflated cushion, wherein the inflatable cushion is folded in a manner that causes the deploying edge to deploy as a first leading edge as said inflatable cushion is inflated to an expanded state by an inflator wherein the deploying edge is the first portion of the inflatable cushion to expand around the headliner.Type: GrantFiled: December 4, 2008Date of Patent: April 13, 2010Assignee: Delphi Technologies, Inc.Inventors: Todd E. Tesch, Edward J. Matlack

Patent number: 6758492Abstract: An air bag restraint system for a transportation vehicle. The restraint system includes an inflatable curtain having a gas inlet, an upper edge, a lower edge and a perimeter. A gas emitting inflator is in fluid communication with the gas inlet. The inflatable curtain includes an inflatable flow channel in fluid communication with the gas inlet. The inflatable flow channel extends at least partially around the inflatable curtain in a path such that at least a potion of the inflation gas is communicated through the inflatable flow channel and along the lower edge.Type: GrantFiled: October 3, 2002Date of Patent: July 6, 2004Assignee: Delphi Technology, Inc.Inventor: Todd E. Publication number: 20020175502Abstract: An inflatable restraint assembly including an inflatable curtain structure deployable from a storage position adjacent the roof rail of the vehicle above the doors so as to extend downwardly over an area within the vehicle interior adjacent to an occupant to be protected. The inflatable curtain structure is operatively connected to one or more variable length tethering elements extending between the inflatable curtain structure and an anchoring structure adjacent the lateral end of the curtain structure so as to apply a generally horizontal force component along the length of the inflatable curtain structure. As the inflatable curtain structure is deployed downwardly from the storage location, the operative length of the tethering element is shortened in the horizontal direction thereby enhancing tension along the length of the inflatable curtain structure.Type: ApplicationFiled: May 23, 2001Publication date: November 28, 2002Inventors: Todd E. Tesch, Jennifer M. Tobe, Shawn Gregory Ryan

Patent number: 6454296Abstract: An inflatable restraint assembly including an inflatable curtain structure deployable from a storage position along the roof rail of the vehicle so as to extend downwardly over an area within the vehicle interior adjacent to an occupant to be protected. The inflatable curtain structure is deployed downwardly along a deployment path from its storage location along the roof rail of the vehicle in substantially nonobstructing relation to shoulder harness structures and is thereafter anchored over the covered area in a substantially tensioned configuration.Type: GrantFiled: November 22, 2000Date of Patent: September 24, 2002Assignee: Delphi Technologies, Inc.Inventors: Todd E Tesch, Solomon I Islam, Scott A.
