  • Publication number: 20250315578
Abstract: Reservoir simulation is performed by constructing an embedded discrete fracture model (EDFM) having matrix grid cells and extra continuum grid cells in the simulation grid. The EDFM is integrated into a multi-porosity-multi-permeability (MPMP) framework of a parallel reservoir simulator. Each fracture polygon of the fractures in the reservoir is divided into a set of fracture cells for calculating matrix-fracture connections and fracture-fracture connections, which are all neighbor connections between grid cells that are face or edge neighbors. These neighbor connections may be intra-continuum connections or inter-continua connections that are stored in the matrix grid cells and/or fracture grid cells in the integrated EDFM/MPMP framework. The reservoir simulation is performed by the parallel reservoir simulator based on the cell connectivity data in the integrated EDFM/MPMP framework to facilitate well production of the reservoir.

  • Patent number: 7948730
Abstract: A fast turn-off and fast turn-on circuit (10) providing at least one power source (12, 20), at least one switching device (14, 22), a coil (16), and at least a first voltage control device (18). The at least one switching device (14, 22) is connected to the at least one power source (12, 20) for selectively connecting the at least one power source (12, 20) to portions of the circuit (10). An electrical current from at least one power source (12, 20) charges the coil (16) and creates an electromagnetic field when the at least one switching device (14, 22) is in a closed position and connects the at least one power source (12, 20) with the coil (16). The first voltage control device (18) limits a voltage in the circuit (10) when the electromagnetic field decays.

  • Patent number: 7301446
Abstract: A method of detecting the presence of an undersized, e.g., mini-spare, or an underinflated, oversized or overinflated tire or tires on a passenger motor vehicle improves operation of traction control, stability and anti-lock brake systems by compensating for such operating anomalies. The method includes the steps of sensing the steering angle, sensing the actual rotational speeds of each wheel, determining the actual vehicle speed, calculating each expected wheel speed based upon the sensed steering angle and wheel speeds, calculating each tire diameter based upon the calculated wheel speeds and, finally, determining whether such diameters are within various defined ranges which permit normal operation, permit reduced function operation, or require system shut down.

  • Patent number: 6295808
Abstract: A method for determining if the driveability index of a fuel being consumed by an internal combustion engine differs from the driveability index of a fuel for which the air-to-fuel ratio of the engine is preset. The method includes the steps of: determining the speed of the engine; determining the load on the engine; determining the actual exhaust gas temperature of the engine; and computing a predicted exhaust gas temperature based on the speed, the load and the preset air-to-fuel ratio of the engine. The actual exhaust gas temperature is compared to the predicted exhaust gas temperature to determine if the difference between the actual exhaust gas temperature and the predicted exhaust gas temperature exceeds a predetermined value.
