Abstract: A strap detachable portable basketball system includes a backboard. A rim assembly is on a front surface of the backboard. A mechanism on a rear surface of the backboard is for retaining the backboard in a height adjustable stabilizing manner onto an upstanding host structure. The mechanism includes two pair of ratcheting straps and an offset mounting shoe coated with durable rubber padded material for anti-slippage, anti-bouncing, and anti-shaking.
