    Abstract: A method of securing a metal component to a body having a metal wall includes placing the component against the body such that a wall of the component is in external surface contact with the wall of the body. An opening is then thermal drilled through the abutting walls causing thermal flow of material on opposite sides of the abutting walls that, when hardened, joins the component to the body.
